Here's why I ask.

The wave knocked her out, and instinctively her unconscious saved her, but was awoken in the process. The unconscious is everything repressed because its deemed "unacceptable" by society- any violent thoughts we have, most of our sexual urges, etc.- partially because repressing those urges is what makes us distinct from the rest of the animals on the planet.

So in X3, do you think Jean/Pheonix (they are one person, just a psychologically scarred one):

1) was evil?
2)good?
3)or just neutral: an animal with no good or bad inclinations, just worrying about the first rule of nature, survival?

Should lead to some good discussions I think/hope

Murdering people usually means you're an evil person.

But then again Jean isn't exactly a normal person. She's a god. Her killing people is like you or I killing ants.

Number 3... she was in the middle... I mean even though she was with the brotherhood, doesn't mean she joined them just like that. You can see her off to the side away from the others cause the reason she doesn't say "I'll join you.." its b/c she has her own motivations and has no where else to go. Plus you can say she's very dangerous...but again...She has no home...nothing. I don't think she wanted to go back to the X-Men after what happened to Xavier...

she was good xavier deserved it the humans deserved it! quill deserved it! arclight deserved it! scott deserved it!
(no need to mention the only one who didn't........p s y )

She didn't fight until attacked at Alcatraz, and never went out of her way or seeked anyone out to kill them- Prof X pushed a button when he brought up Scott, the soldiers tried to cure/capture her (so she fought back), and even Scott could be looked at as an accident- when they first started neckin' and she turned I kinda looked at it as a moment of a lot of passion (again, something that is locked up in that unconscious- especially for Jean and Scott as it was depicted in the films), which could trigger those darker, repressed parts of herself.

Plus I saw Magneto's "recruiting" of Jean as more of him taking her in and taking care of her, knowing that she does need someone to take care of her. Her intentions weren't the same as his.

Exactly... though I should have said that in my post:p

Howdy

Jean saw EVERYONE as pawns. Once she took apart the cartridge an pointed the darts at Magneto he was no longer her leader. He himself became a pawn an she didn't even think of joining in the war till he went down an she became threatened. If you could call it that.

Mek

A lot of people never even saw Mags as her leader though. They never saw her as part of the Brotherhood, just there because Mags took care of her after the incident in her neighborhood.

Although I will say that Magneto was trying to influence her to help his cause- with the talks in the forest and the final comment to her after he was cured. And it is interesting to think that she started to gain some arrogance from her powers (like you suggested, Mek)

Glad to see this is pretty evenly split- a little surprised to see alot of people saying she's good. Puts into question other characters intentions (Xavier, Magneto, and even Logan and Beast) in regards to Jean/Pheonix
