This is a great Idea. Finally we start to get sense to educate the general public on these mountains.
I've been waiting for something like this for a while. for too long have the Volcanoes of the Pacific Northwest Stayed in the dusty corners of the public's consciousness. These things are active, and the population is slowly creeping up towards them, the closer the populace gets to them, the more chance of disaster when one erupts.
Take Mount Rainier, hundreds of thousands of people live in river valleys that have been filled hundreds of feet thick with volcanic debris time and time again, and how much of the population knows? not a lot, and most who do consider the mountain "dead" by all intents and purposes. They are so wrong. Mount Saint Helens was considered dead before it erupted, look what happened.
One day, another volcano will erupt, and it might not be Mount Saint Helens. It could be Rainier, Baker, Hood. Any one of the Thirteen major active volcanoes along the cost, let alone the five in Washington. And it might be one that isn't so well monitored.
Again, this is an excellent way to raise public awareness and potentially save lives, a thumbs up to the Governor.
