This thread is NOT about politics.

Watching Obama's speech was amazing. The significance of the day (anniversary of MLK's speech). The fact that its the first time a black man is officially up for nomination for the highest position. I saw people in the crowd were moved to tears.

I was just wondering, did the moment have significance to you? I'm not talking about politics. I'm talking about personal significance. From a historical perspective, the perspective of African Americans, etc.

It made me think...that it sure did.

It was an adult American Idol Show. Yeah, I was disgusted.

I can't remember Obama singing...

In what way was it an "American Idol" show?

I was drunk so nope, missed it

I fell asleep watching it so it couldn't have affected me that much.

I was on the hype listening to music and the tv was right beside me so I couldent hear anything but sometimes i'd look at the tv for a second when I was waiting for something to load.

And in those seconds, Obama seemed to pleasantly glow.

comments not racially motivated. I dislike both sides equally!

the whole election makes me sick, so yeah I was affected. I found myself wishing I lived somewhere else.

may I ask why?
I live in another country, and as a Social Studies and Sciences teacher happen to find all this very interesting, yet I'd also love to know why you think this way

it was quite an impressive spectacle. i don't know how i feel about it. it seemed a little cult like to me.

I got scared that somebody was trying to shoot him when the fireworks went off at the end :(

I'm not keen on either party. The dems have turned into a bunch of socialists willing to forfeit freedom.

The republicans want to legislate morality.

IDK I have to agree that the Obama thing seems to be trendy and he is like a Celebrity.

exactly. i think it's great that people seemed to be getting involved in the government of their country, but i have a feeling that a lot are involved for the wrong reasons. and by wrong reasons i mean because following obama is the "it" thing to do right now.
i could never put 100% of my faith in one man, no matter what side of the isle he's on.

I didn't watch the speech, but wouldn't have been moved by it even if I did. He's a politician, he's going to tell everyone what they want to hear.

That said, I'll probably vote for him because I sure as hell don't want another republican in office for 4 more years and he at least has a personality unlike the past two robots the democrats gave us.

Way too many people simply follow party politics, and never question the status quo. A lot of people have jumped on the Obama bandwagon without understanding politics, or what he stands for. Both parties want to take away freedoms, just for different reasons.

I missed the speech unfortunately, but I'd like to try and find a way to watch a replay. I think Obama gives really great speeches, from what I've seen elsewhere.

Who the **** are you trying to fool Kaine?

And either way, speeches don't move me, actions do.

Obama's speech last night just made me more convinced that somebody's gonna try to kill him if he gets elected
