I messed around and changed some registry values the other day(trying to optimize my ram/ swap file ratio)And now I i have to be there when the comp boots so that it wont boot in recovery.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\Memory Management].
DisablePagingExecutive was changed to a value of 1.
Then I changed advanced properties to kernel dump on crash.
Then I downloaded and installed a utility to defrag the pagefile.
Then i just allocated a gigantic chunk of disk space to the swap.

I changed this all back again and its still doing it.
Help!!??

messing with the registry is a game of Russian roulette if you don't know what you are doing.

I am not 100% sure of this, but set the value back to 0 (zero) and see if that doesn't change anything.

From my perspective on defragging a page file on servers
NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE

every app and tool I have used has bluescreened my box.
Dont do it, not worth it.

Have you tried booting in SAFE MODE and trying to undo the changes?

I fixed it. In System Properties/Advanced/Startup and Recovery,.the default OS startup was set to Recovery.I must've done that like a dummy.

Malice=(not like I'm the server king but just to get it out there) If you place your swap on a secondary SATA and ATA drive that the OS isn't on, everything will run noticeably quicker and you wouldn't even need or care to defrag that swap.I'm sure you knew but just in case..

For myself I'm just trying to keep my coloring apps from crashing or telling me there isn't enough memory. It seems like lately defrag apps are the new hot ticket.(almost every week theres a new one out there)
