The Amazing Spider-Man 2 What if The Rough Cut was the version that was released?

The movie got a lot of mixed reviews but months before its released some people saw an unedited version of the movie and said it was Brillant and the version they saw was an unedited version so I'm wondering if they released that version instead would it have got a better response and the same thing happened with the first movie why do they keep changing huge plot points of these films I understand they need to cut some scenes but come on not important scenes that put the story together

I am confused and shocked at the same time. If Sony wanted to keep the rights why did they need to cut so much stuff in the movie? They would've made billions at the box office why the film kept getting positive reviews. I really hope we get an uncut version in the bear future
