What's the deal with 3D printers?

I often wonder how modern capitalism will survive since eventually when these things et cheap enough everyone can make their own stuff. Why would I spend $200 on the latest Nike's that anyone can get when I can make my own bad ass one of a kind shoes?

You'd still need the materials so I imagine that there would be more of a demand for that than the products themselves eventually.

Making stuff yourself is never as cheap as you might think. Watch an episode of Shark Tank or Dragon's Den to get an idea of how much manufacturing something actually costs.

With the materials and everything, a 3d made good pair of shoes might cost more than $200 but with that comes the knowledge that you have a unique pair of shoes that you can customize to your specifications.

Japan, you haven't let me down yet.
