What's your favorite game box art?

I always loved old fantasy party covers like "a mage, a warrior, a rogue and a booth babe". And this one tops them all:

People ridicule these artworks these days not without a reason, but to me it's just super-nostalgic and resembles movies like Conan the Barbarian and works of pulp illustrators like Frazetta. Bonus points for the woman looking like Sonya Blade from MK3. I later bought overpriced used box of this game just to have it in my possession.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Japanese Saturn cover). Never owned a Saturn, but artwork by Ayami Kojima is just breathtaking:

These expressive and elegant portraits is part of the charm of one of my most favorite games and this cover is even better than the Japanase PS1 cover of the game with Alucard.

Love how they managed to keep that style for seven games.

X-Men Legends 1/2 also follow a similar look.

Always loved the Black/Gold aesthetic they used for the new Dues Ex games as well.

Black and gold of HR was memorable. MD went for "medieval" gray aesthetic.

Count me in as a fan of GTA covers. Loving the cover artwork, the games just have their visual identity. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of the series (though GTAV was great).

With holo and emboss. It's Tool album of games. It's in my wishlist, but price is a bit too much.

There only a few art that memorable for me.
On top of it are:

It was a simulator game but the box art is very beautiful in capturing the Gifu prefecture mountain view. I am not a biker but this art makes me want to take a road trip to whole prefectures. Haha.


Winning Eleven 2018

The reason I love this art is because this showcase the strongest Nippon Samurai Blue squad at the time (this squad made it into 13 rank in the world) with Honda, Kagawa, Yoshida, Kawashima, Inui, Nagatomo, Shibasaki are all featured in this cover makes it feels epic (though the gameplay is more and less the same as before and after, haha).


Donkey Kong Returns

DK is my favorite Nintendo franchise series. I love all the arts from the classic Super Famicom era too but Returns stick to me as my most favorite as it showcase the root of the original DK1 with D.Kong and Diddy Kong.

Others... I also love the art box of all Far Cry series.
It showcase all the villains as the selling points. Haha. My most favorite art is perhaps FC5.

Box art is not something that sticks with me fondly, but if I had to choose a favorite then mine is easily for Mortal Kombat II.

I see a few posted here that are nicer to look at than I would normally consider.

The original Resident Evil 3 box art is cool too, but it spoils the surprise the game was building up to originally.

I actually remember drawing this cover with pencils and marker pens, as well as Liu Kang from MK '95 movie.

PAL cover for Resident Evil 2. It reminded me of George Romero classic zombie movies and cool commercial that he made for the game.
