This is not a Sony bashing thread, but rather because i´ve never seen a company so eager to lose money and anger it´s fanbase, i can´t even understand what they want.

A couple of months ago, there was the rumor that Sony is going to release the PSP2 next year.
Then, there was the rumor of a PSP-4000 going to be released next year.
My idea was, the PSP-4000 is the PSP2, but, well....err....it seems that the PSP-4000 is real, and it´s the 5th PSP.

Looks like Sony is not done with hardware revisions of the PSP. And no, they haven't yet announced anything, but a retailer has apparently spilled the beans inadvertently. In an ad about a LittleBigPlanet case for PSP, the compatible models show not only what you'd expect (PSP-1000, PSP-2000, PSP-3000 and PSP Go), but also an as of yet unannounced PSP-4000. Oops, that wasn't supposed to be there. You can see below in the image the supported hardware

This is pretty much official confirmation of the existence of the new hardware revision, now we only need Sony to announce it

I´m sorry, but that´s just stupid.
The PSP came out in 2004; 3 years later, in 2007, the PSP-2000 was relased which was totally normal.
But, 1 year later, in 2008, the PSP-3000 came to be.
The, 1 year later, in 2009, the PSP Go.
And then, next year, 2010, a new redesign, the PSP-4000.
That makes 4 PSP in 4 years...errr....i don´t even have words to describe how stupid that is.

So, who will bet that the PSP-5000 will be released in 2011?

This rumor is old, at least since August. The 4000 is supposed to have a UMD drive. The Go was never suppose to replace the 3000, just give consumers a choice for a more travel friendly model. Not sure it is "stupid" since the DS has seen several models. Why didn't you make a thread about that? Oh, right it's you. At least your not bashing Sony.

This all thing goes about the fact that there are 4 PSP (2000, 3000, GO and now the 4000) in 4 years (2007,2008, 2009, 2010), not because there are several models.
I give you that the DS XL is stupid, but, at least, Nintendo doesn´t make a new DS each year.
OK, i give you that the DSi and DSi XL where released 1 year apart, but that makes it 2 in 2, not 4 in 4, but, if Nintendo releases a new DS that is not the DS2 (the same goes to Sony, i would be more than happy to see a PSP 2 in 2010, but that is not the case) i will say the same thing i´m saying on this thread.

DS, DSlite, DSi, DSxl since 2004. You are only making a big deal about this because it is Sony. For as long as I have seen you post here, you take jabs, put them down, and find anyway you can to make a thread like this. You are a MS fanboy, that can't wait to hear anything you precieve to be negative toward Sony and make a ridiculous thread about it. That is a fact. Do you see anyone else go into the other gaming forums creating threads just to start a fight or to get attention? No. Matt nuked these boards for the same antics you display day in and out.

When a i said Sony released 4 PSPs in 4 years, what didn´t you understand?
I can´t be any clearer than this, it has nothing to do with Sony as a company, but rather the stupidty of releasing the same console with little tweaks which year.
It just anger fans that bought the previous portale, and makes Sony lose money because no one will buy it, unless you like spending money buying the same thing each year.
Nintendo released 2 portables in a row, the DS in 2008 and the DSi XL in 2009, that´s not really the same thing, is it?
I give you that the XL is a pathetic move by Nintendo, but it´s not the same thing as to release 4 portables in 4 years.
And that´s the only thing about this thread.
This is not a "Sony sucks" thread, but rather, "Sony does bad business decisions".
And, when Sony is still selling the PS3 at a loss, to throw money out the window is just...well...stupid.

Now you can call me a MS fanboy if it helps you sleep at night, i don´t care.
And about the "i make stupid threads" the same thing goes, i don´t care, but you clearly do, if not, you wouldn´t be here "defending" Sony.

In fact, i was excited when many thought it would be the Go was the PSP2.
It wasn´t the PSP2, but rather a UMD-less PSP.
The only thing i found "stupid" was the price tag, but anyone has to agree with me, the GO is way too expansive.
And you right, the Go was never meant to replace the PSP-3000, and that´s exactly the problem.
If you have a PSP with UMD (3000) and one without UMD (PSPGo), why the f**k do you need a new one with UMD?
If Sony wants to release a new one, great, i´m all for it, i´m all for the PSP2.
But another redesign of the PSP1......dude, that´s just fricking STUPID!!

Apparently you didn't really understand. What he was saying is that the DS has several iterations in quick succession. The same as the PSP. Sure, Nintendo didn't release them 4 years straight, but let us look at the actual release schedule:

DS-2004
DS Lite-2006
DSi-2008
DS XL-2009

Sony waited one more year in between the PSP and PSP-2000 as opposed to the two between the original DS and the DS Lite. So, basically, the schedule is exactly the same except for that one year.

Yes, I said that it's true that there hasn't been a DS for four straight years, but if you read the rest of my post it's obvious that I don't agree with you. You use this whole 'Well, Nintendo didn't release it four years in a row,' but there's literally just one years difference between Sony and Nintendo having the same schedule with their DS releases. Your justification doesn't seem as solid when you look at the numbers and dates over the generalization.

Also, didn't say a thing about quality. The overall point that KAL was making is that both companies have flooded the market with iterations of their handheld this generation. Neither one deserves anymore flak than the other, at least not for overstautation of redesigns.

This is one of the moments i´m really glad i was mistaken.
It seems that there is no PSP-4000, it was a mistake by the company that made the adverts.

It was stupid move if it was true, guess Sony is not that stupid afterall

I wouldn't have had a problem with Sony releasing a PSP 4000. If anything, I would have been interested in what new features it has, since I'm still rockin' a 1000 and might want to upgrade at some point. It's not like it would hurt anything if Sony upgraded the hardware again (and I have not heard a compelling argument for why that would be a bad thing).

ya, i wouldn't have cared, I wouldn't have bought it anyways. Nothing wrong with giving the consumer more options especially if it is an improvement.
