What should that scene be like. Arguably the most momentous non-action occasion of this film, it should take a MARVEL fan's breath away.

I envisioned a scene where Nick Fury has Tony watching old serials of CAP's publicity tours and adventures. Then after getting tired he says that he knows all about this from his father who idolised the guy and asks why he is watching this and Fury says "Because you're about to meet him." Then Steve walks in --> classic expression of disbelief on Tony's face. Steve introduces himself and extends a hand; handshake ensues (focused in by the camera and cue awesoem music).

Tony Stark - "Nice bathing suit. Mine's made of metal".
Steve Rodgers - *raised eyebrow*

Perfect.

Well, I was thinking a bottle of fine wine, chocolates and a dozen long stem roses is acceptable the first time you meet...>_<

I think the meeting will start with Tony being starstruck/awestruck at seeing one of his idols come to life, but the conversation will turn quickly as Cap realizes that Tony is an arrogant prick and nothing like his father, and Tony realizes that Steve is no fun at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the "take away that suit, and what are you" exchange from the trailer is actually the endpoint of their first meeting.

that scene looks to be after they first capture loki though. The staff of his is in the room with them

>Cap shakes hands with Tony<

Cap: ''Tony Stark? I knew your father........''

Tony: ''Well, that makes one of us.''

Cap: ''.......he was a good man. Saved the lives of a lot of Americans''

Tony: ''I.........''

>here is a rare moment where Tony is basically rendered almost speechless; while he opens his mouth to retort he ultimately shuts it again as he ponders the weight of Captain America's words<

Well done. Love that exchange. In my scene I would definitely put it in after Tony recovers from his shock.

Why would Tony idolize Cap? In IM2, he didn't even recognize that he had a prototype of Cap's shield.

Really the universe should impload due to such amazingnes in one room....

Why do you say he didn't recognize it?? He was building it. Just because he and Coulson didn't talk about CAP doesn't mean he didn't know what it is.

In A:EMH Tony openly admits that he and his father idolised CAP.

In the MCU I would postulate 2 scenarios:

1: Tony idolised CAP as a youth because of his father stories.

2: Howard idolised CAP and told Tony alot about him causing a bit of resentment of CAP by Tony. Especially as Tony is a very flawed individual and CAP was always portrayed as this ideal person.

Also in TIH at the end Tony shows that he was well aware of the whole super soldier program and thus presumably of Cap himself.

I think Tony had 2 prototypes. One he's been fiddling with(seen in IM1) and one in his father's belongings in IM2.

Well, it certainly has to be better than Tony's first interaction with Bruce, that's for damn sure.

Cap is the leader-in-the-making.
