TV > Movies, but my real preferences for on-screen DC superhero fare is Cartoons > TV > movies.

The Young Justice cartoon, in particular, is up there with actual comic books like PADs Young Justice, or Perez & Wolfman's Teen Titans, for great superhero fare.

Dude, have you seen Assault on Arkham ? It's basically Suicide Squad
but a million times better !

I have enjoyed all the movies, but the TV shows have been hit-or-miss for me.

For me, there's so many factors at work in a movie/TV show in terms of genre, tone, casting, plot, etc. that there's no way at all to group everything into one of two possible categories and then choose one. Some people do seem to largely approach superhero films in that way where they choose Type A (Batman v Superman) over Type B (The Avengers), and okay for them, but...Boardwalk Empire is one of my favorite TV shows, but I quit Penny Dreadful after three episodes because I just wasn't enjoying it. I certainly like the idea of an HBO Batman show, but I wouldn't actually know until I saw it whether it was more like Boardwalk Empire or more like Penny Dreadful, not in terms of specific characteristics but in terms of a show that works for me or a show that doesn't.

Similarly, Batman Begins ranks among my favorite superhero films, The Dark Knight was good but not on the same level for me, The Dark Knight Rises was pretty good but another step down, and I didn't care for Batman v Superman. I really like Iron Man 2 but not The Avengers. It just depends.

Boardwalk is one of my favorite series as well. I'd love to see a Batman series that went all out with the B:TAS aesthetic, where it's not specific to any period of time, but people dress like they do in Boardwalk Empire, kinda like Sin City, something that stays true to all those Batman influences, the old noir gangster serials, the hard boiled detective novels, the Universal monster movies, etc.

I was going to say both because I watch Flash, but I don't bother with any of the other shows so it's the movies for me.
I never had a problem with the shows until people started using them to bash the DCEU including on this board and apparently some actors. Like it was ever going to be possible for barely passable CW actors to be leads in a major movie.

Hmmm.... could those actors carry a film ? Good question. Now Affleck is a good actor ( and possibly a great director, given some time), Gal Gadot as an actress...well who knows really ? Henry Cavill's pretty good, but given crap to work with, and of course Amy Adams is one of the best actresses never to win an Oscar. I'm not going into the cast of Suicide Squad, as IMO they certainly aren't that big a step up from CW - except Will Smith of course, who does have some great films to his name (and some **** ones too).

Even for the legit actors in the DC films of this year, if the films they're appearing in aren't very good, well it's fair for anyone to honestly critique them.

Hell, Jeremy Irons (who is a legit great actor) has bashed B v S, and said that the critics were right about it.

A lot of folks, myself included, didn't enjoy this year's DC films - I think it's fair to say that at the moment the shows are more enjoyable, hit and miss as they are. There's nothing unfair about that comparison. I mean, I'm not going to appear in a TV show (even a CW tv show), but it's still okay for me to say the shows are better.

At the same time, if you enjoy the movies more, that's great - I'm kind of envious. Hopefully Justice League will put the shows to shame.... but after this year's movies, I'm not holding my breath.

Cheers.

I love both but DC TV is my favourite, I'd take it over the MCU aswell and any other comic book TV shows.

I really like the two justice league animated series they had. I'm really surprised there's not a current one.

There is a difference between tv actors and movie actors. Some tv actors can transition to movies and vice versa; but most cannot. Even GoT actors are having difficulty carrying movies and that show is leagues ahead of everything on CW. Which is why Grant was never a serious contender for a Flash movie.
I enjoyed BvS and have not seen SS. The movies themselves are different from the actors who should and should not be cast in them. A fantastic tv actor still may not be able to carry a movie.

I am just not into DC to watch the DC shows. So I just voted for the fifth option.

I have only seen Flash Season 1 and most of season 2, but that alone is far superior than the 3 DCEU films we've gotten so far.

DCTV is clearly doing something right. I'm glad they're succeeding.

Yeah, Batman TAS was pretty awesome. There were a lot of aesthetic elements that they borrowed from Batman '89. Very entertaining.

Just saw the Flash Invasion Crossover episode. It was AWESOME !

Sure it didn't have the same level of special effects, but otherwise it was wayyy better than either B v S or SS.

I thought it was ok, but not great. They rushed through so much, and scenes were not as effective as they should have been as a result.

I feel like you're painting with a very broad brush here. I would agree that some TV actors aren't movie material, but a lot of them (like the GoT actors for instance) look bad in movies because they're simply not landing good roles. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is a better actor than plenty of movie stars, but there was no way he was going to come off well in a crapfest like Gods of Egypt. Similarly, Emilia Clarke had a snowball's chance in hell of delivering a good performance in Terminator: Genysis.

Now, as for the more relevant part of this argument, I would say that most of the CW actors aren't movie material. But honestly, I don't even think some of them are TV material either. Those actors that played the Hawks on Flash and Legends of Tomorrow stuck out as exceptionally bad. As for Grant though; I think he's talented and charismatic enough that he could be successful in movies--as long as he's given good material.

I think Gustin would be successful in roles that are pretty much exactly like the one he plays on his show. From what I've seen of him (which hasn't been much recently, I'll admit), I'd say that he's talented, but limited.

Yeah, I can't see him doing Shakespeare or anything like that, but I could see him doing well in contemporary pieces that feature a young, nerdy character.
