of the first four superman films, which is your fave? the epis megahit SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE

or the jaw dropping blockbuser
SUPERMAN ll

or the richard pryr cheese fest

SUPERMAN lll

or the abomination
superman 4: the quest for peace

I like all four movies

SUPERMAN THE MOVIE
Great origin tale, Reeve was superb, the acting, directing, music, all in all not bad.

SUPERMAN 2
Again Reeve was excellent, great Metropolis fight, showdown in the Fortress.

SUPERMAN 3
Even though it dealt with computer hacking and Richard Pryor, the movie was saved by the junkyard fight between Clark and evil Supes.

SUPERMAN 4
Only Reeve reprising his role is what saved this movie, Luthor is funny, the fight with Nuclear Man could've been better though.

Superman the movie is the Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! however, in superman II I find the most magical moments of the all movies, is when Chris run in the alley and open his
T - shirt, we can see an imponent and majestic Chris reeve there, is amazing, I think that the merit of that scene is not for the Director, is absolutly Reeve`s merit

Superman II
Still one of the best comicbook films to date.

Superman
The first 45 minutes alone make this one essential viewing.

Superman III
If they had gone ahead with Donner as director, and Brainiac as villain, this one could've been a great follow-up to II. Smallville and the good/bad Superman fight were great.

Superman IV
Well, at least it's no Batman and Robin. Oddly, the Clark Kent stuff may be the best part of the film.

SUPERMAN: The Movie - Great film. One of the best films ever. The more i watch it with the likes of Spiderman, the more I appreciate this film.

SUPERMAN II - Long winded in parts, but the end is what makes this film superb. That, and Chris Reeves.

SUPERMAN III - It was ok. If this wasn't meant to be a superman film, i'd say it was pretty good. But, unfortunatly, this was Richard Pryors film, not Reeves'. Great Evil Supes/Clark moment though. Reeve's again saves this film.

SUPERMAN IV - Could've been great. But, as we know, NOT. Reeve's again on form.

I voted for the very first one. More story. Marlon Brando was excellent, and that whole part where superman gets his costume in the Fortress after Brandos speech was well done. Oh and the suction cup guy climbing the building lmao

STM:
Like all you guys said. Great FILM. Fantastic acting, cinematography, music, the whole shebang. This flick was not only the sh**, it let us know what the sh** was

SII:
I agree with Smegger, a bit long winded, but great at the end.

SIII:
I kid you not, if you edit out or ignore the parts that are just there for "humor", it's actually a damn good movie

SIV:
Touchy spot for me. I really don't think the movie was that bad, aside from the hurrendous special effects (due to the squandering of the budget). I think the performances were great, the message was a good one. The fight was a little lackluster...but that doesn't ruin the movie.

Yeah, ironically, everyone in the film actually does make a decent effort, and the story did have real potential. But the studio wasting half of the budget on other projects was simply too much for the film to overcome. It still wouldn't have been great, but it probably wouldn't have sunk the franchise the way it did.

I voted for Superman The Movie, though this was unbelievably tough, as Superman II is so superb. Two of my favourite films ever

As well as the first two, I also like the final two films, and even though they were both heavily flawed in areas, any moment with Christopher Reeve reprising his role as The Man of Steel is truly wonderful :supes:

Well it's tricky because I love them all, especially the first two, but I voted for Superman II, because that's the first one I ever saw and the one I used to watch nearly everyday as a kid.

Superman: The Movie - Awesome.

Superman II - Fabulous sequel, as good as, possibly better than the first.

Superman III - A wasted opportunity, but any moment with Christopher Reeve is wonderful.

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace - I really like this one, despite the flaws, because once again, any moment with Christopher Reeve is wonderful.

:supes:

Superman III is my fav

bad Supes Vs Clark Kent junkyard fight scene!

Nuff said.

i agree on the votes...

S:tm and then S:2

and i watch my four movies every now and then...and i've come to think that S:3 could have been the Brainiac movie we all needed in that time...the theme was computer hacking, and Brainiac being a computer...could have been...the movie just needed a good director to put the ideas together then add 1 plus 1...make it less cheesy or campy ( pick your choice )...and then...

well, you get the picture...

and S:4 is the Bizarro movie never made as well...

I dont know why, but I always found myself coming back to Superman III. I never watched it for Pryor... but the flying work in that movie is astounding. I just love his landings and takeoffs.

I agree, the effects are great there. But oddly enough, people seem to assume the effects are bad just because the rest of the movie is bad. Half of those poeple probably haven't even watched Superman III in a long time and just assumed EVERYTHING was wrong.

I love all 4 films, but the first one is my favorite. :supes:

I've always loved the fight between Clark and Superman in Superman 3.

You know, all the reviews of "Superman Returns" have mentioned the first two Superman films (the whole "vague history" stuff) and they all say that Superman II is better than Superman 1, that Richard Lester did a better job of capturing the balance between pop art and camp, etc.

Anyhow...

1) Superman 1: The first and simply the best.
2) Superman 2: Good follow up, great fight towards the end, great villain in General Zod and his underlings, but suffers from choppy editing.
3) Superman 3: Suffers from being more of a showcase for Richard Pryor and being to absurd. The idea of Superman turned evil could have made for a fascinating third entry, and Reeve clearly gave his best, but his efforts were thwarted by the film's uneven tone. Worth a rental for the scene where evil Superman fights the good Clark Kent in the junkyard. Plus future "Smallville" mom Annette O'Toole shows up, and she is so damn hot...
4) Superman 4: Once again, this could have been a fascinating film with it's brainchild idea of Superman tackling a global/international issue like nuclear warfare, but a poor budget and off camera mishandling destroyed whatever chance this film had to succeed. Sincere performances from returning stars like Reeve help. Even with an obvious stick holding the flag up on a moon to suggest weightlessness, the way Reeve straightens the flag out, and the look of pride on his face just before he gets tackled by Mark Pillow, he still made me feel and believe in Superman.

My fave was Superman II because of the supervillain fights. Could've done without the romance stuff. I liked Superman III also tho. Suprisingly, i didnt enjoy the first one as much. And the 4th one sucked.

My favorite has always been TM. I like II, but I've always thought it's overrated. The first one's got the time travel nonsense, but II has a few things I'd rather forget.

Haven't seen III in quite a while, and IV is just terrible.

Seeing SR on Monday.

It's a definite toss-up with Superman and Superman II, I can't really pick out of those two.
