BoBByJoMo calls it perfect. That's how the Avengers movie will more then likely shake down. Marvel plans on releasing solo movies first and then unite the characters in an Avengers film. Iron Man, Cap, Hulk, Ant-Man and more then likely Thor will all appear.

Iron Man and Captain America are must haves. Black Widow, Hawkeye, Ant-Man and Wasp could easily fit but I think realistically only 2 of those would be in. Thor is possible depending on his movies release.

My idea is we have Cap and SHIELD. Fury of course is running it. Banner is a scientist under SHIELD (maybe working on cracking the SS formula like in the Ultimates or develpoing some new weapons w/ Pym). He's gained moderate control of Hulk, or atleast can somewhat keep the Banner mentality while as Hulk. Some special soldiers are being trained by Cap (this is where eventual Hawkeye, Widow and some other cameo characters are seen) and they're either just inline for the new ss formula being developed or becoming an elite squad that eventually is the second and third stringers of the Avengers. This of course depends on what Banner is doing for SHIELD. Also Pym and his assistant/wife Wasp could also be in said R/D dept. of SHIELD. Some shady things are going on at SHIELD, a scientist is manipulating the research Banner is doing or is stealing info for some other group (AIM, Hydra, whoever) Banner is then plotted against by said group for a kidnapping (to use him since the info they have isn't much without him). Well, as they attempt to kidnap him he Hulks up and runs amok. Cap and SHIELD are deployed to save/restrain him. We get a good look at the soldiers in training such as Hawkeye and Widow in action. The situation becomes out of hand for them and Iron Man shows up to assist. Hulk is restrained, Banner is saved and we get a sample of things to come. Cap, Iron Man and Fury discuss afterwards that a "team" should be assembled when a threat against the US (and the world) that is too great. They seek out Thor for they know the elite squad that Cap is training is only capable of the back-up work that Cap/IM/Thor would need since they're the heavy hitters. Meanwhile said evil corporation could be using the stolen info for two things. If its developmental weapons/armor and such it could be the birth of the Ultron from stolen Pym specs. If its the ss formula that Banner is trying to crack then the eveil corp could use the stolen info they have and create the Taskmaster. If Taskmaster is the villain though i see no need for Thor. If its Ultron (or several Ultron-like robots and then later a more advanced, badass true Ultron towards the end) then Thor would be a necessity. Especially if the Ultron-like robots start infiltrating SHIELD to preoccupy the second stringers and the big bad true Ultron is taking on the heavy hitters. Plus Hulk can have a chance to Hulk up and do some good and get some cred as a hero (like when in Ultimates he Hulks up to help defeat the aliens).

Captain America and Agent Drew/Spider-Woman could serve as government liasons. Wasp and Pym are the resident scientists. Hawkeye is a reformed criminal who's looking to gain amnesty by staying on the team. Iron Man can stand in the background and get plastered. No, seriously, he's the group's main representative.

If there are movies like Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk 2, Ant Man, and Thor in the works or planning to be in the works at some point, does it not seem highly unlikely that an Avengers movie would be made any time soon? The likelihood of us having an Avengers movie with that type of lineup is slim to none considering these movies would have different directors with their different takes of these heroes and their own continuities and actor scheduling issues to contend with. There are just too many problems when it comes to making a team movie out of heroes/actors that have their own feature films as opposed to vise versa, ie. Xmen first then solos. Unfortunately, I think that if Marvel is realistically thinking about making an Avengers movie it would not have the heavyweights but maybe second stringers like Scarlett Witch, Hawkeye, Quicksilver among others.

For me, the three core members have to be there: Ironman, Cap and Thor and beyond that perhaps Vision and Scarlet Witch. Maybe rounding it out would be Hawkeye or Quicksilver but I'm sure the budget would be outta this world.

No matter who's in it though, this film has to be MEGA-HUGE in scope and feel.
