With the success and breathtaking beauty of "Avatar", it only seems fitting to finally reboot "The Wizard of Oz". It just makes sense, given today's technology that some one can pull off this "sacred cow"
I would like to see it as a non-musical, and without the goofyness, but instead, make it a little more adult. This could also become a series, because there were at least 6 more books about Oz.
So come on, Cameron Crow - get to work!

Well we have two Snow White movies coming out so I'm expecting no less than a remake....a remake of the remake....and then a gritty prequel that may also be a reboot.

That might be an interesting movie to watch.Who knows, possibly in a few years,it might get made.

No, not really. I don't mind some remakes, but I don't feel like the Wizard of Oz needs one. I never look at the Wizard of Oz and think "This would look so much better with modern CGI!" I think it looks good as is. I think remakes should be made when there's a good creative reason.

I'd rather just see Wicked get made into a movie.

There was some Gothic fetishistic version of Wizard of Oz in development at one time. I was into that idea. The story would be seriously altered and people might not like it.

There's currently a Sam Raimi prequel being made, btw.

I disagree, I think that it will work as a reboot if there's no goofy dancing and singing. Keep in mind that a screenwriter will probably go off the original books of the late 19th century author, which just had dialog. It can be done in the style of the last two "Potter" movies.

Ah, no. I do want to see the Judy Garland version again though!

If they were to ever do a new adaptation of the books you'd have to think Scarecrow, Tin-Woodsman and Lion would be all CG characters.

Considering the Judy Garland version is a remake, I don't see why not.

I'd rather not see an "Avatar" like anything.

I always wonder why no one bothered to adapt the rest of the books into movies.

Well, Disney did do a Return to Oz movie in the 80's that was much closer to the story told in the books. They didn't make any further sequels because it did poorly at the box office, though.

What do you mean by a more serious wizard of Oz movie?
The book had all that and it was for kids

I know I've seen Return to Oz (so underrated).I think someone should try to pull a Harry potter ,and make a full blown series.

I really don't there needs to be a reboot of the Wizard of Oz just for the technological improvements. Much rather it would be nice to see some first time adaptions like The Boy from Oz, Wicked, The War of Oz etc.

I've seen the Wizard of Oz but, perhaps because, it was never apart of my childhood, I don't exactly see what the big deal is. I mean it's good sure... but I've never read the book(s) either so for me personally, a remake or another adaptation, I'm not that bothered.

I was thinking about it several weeks ago actually and came up with my own cast. I don't remember who I picked but I did think David Tennant would make a pretty cool Scarecrow.

I remembering reading that Salma Hayek was going to adapt Wicked into a TV mini-series,It was going to be based on the book rather than the musical.

They had a King Kong remake in the late 70's/early 80s that didn't do so well, than better technology came out for the millinium version, so, I wouldn't let that Return to Oz move disuade me.

I would go see a new Wizard of Oz movie, but I feel there is hardly a NEED for it, especially making it "more adult." I mean, there was a new Alice in Wonderland with today's technology, and while it was a HUGE box office success, the film itself wasn't anything magnificent. As far as a film series goes, I just don't know if the interest is there, like there is with Harry Potter. I feel like the Narnia books are more popular than the Oz books, and those movies haven't torn up the box office like they thought they would.
