Who is...

That is quite a query you pose.

Captain Marvel, Superman, Dr. Fate, Green Lanterns...anybody? I'm a DC history/continuity/character freak, but I wouldn't have a clue where to begin on most powerful.

God's not a superhero, but yeah, he's up there. That once council-thingy with a guardian and Highfather and the Stranger, they seem pretty powerful. There's a lot of powerful individuals in the DCU, but he asked about superheroes.

I just realized I have to say Alan Scott. I think it was directly stated by Dr. Mid-Nite recently that theoretically, Alan is the most powerful person on the planet, and I think it can be inferred from this statement that Alan may be the most powerful mortal in the universe, in theory. Spectre could beat him, I suppose, but I can see Alan beating Spectre too.

Well, if we're talking classic super hero, The Spectre. If we're talking titular character, then Lucifer.

1. the Spectre
2. Doomsday
3. Darkseid
4. Superman
5. Zatanna

If you're counting the likes of Doomsday and Darkseid and not just super heroes, then a few things:

1) Darkseid is way bove Doomsday.

2) Number one should be Lucifer. He's been said on many occasions to be the second most powerful being in all of creation, second only to The Source, and thus much more powerful than The Spectre.

True, also, if you aren't just counting super heroes, then you could say The Saint of Killers is up there too.

You do know Darkseid got beaten and nearly killed by Doomsday? Superman saved Darkseid

Also, I think that if given his full potential, Takion could be the most powerful. He's an avatar of The Source.

Saint of Killers ain't in the DCU.

You do know that that story was crap?

Ion, you idiots.

If we're talking more classic super heroes, The Spectre would still kick his ass. If we're talking general characters, then Lucifer would still kick his ass.

Since when was Lucifer a super-hero?

And the current Spectre is certainly not a super-hero.

Where did he say general character in there?

He didn't. Just look at what I said:

I mentioned the initial question, which was super heroes. The Spectre fits into that catagory, albeit vaguely. However, since others brought up non super heroes, I mentioned Lucifer if we're talking about any DCU character in general.

Yeah, I know. I always forget he isn't though since it's a Vertigo title and half seem to connect to the DCU and half don't. Either way he's still badass.

Then every single post since "Ion, you idiots." doesn't count.

Ion, you idiots.

That's not true at all. You're just making bull**** up.

Anyway, The Spectre still kicks Ion's ass.

The Leaguer said:
No I'm not. DC. Super-hero. Most powerful.

Yes, you are. Just because I mentioned something that didn't have to do with the topic exactly doesn't mean my post isn't valid. Other non super hero DC characters had been mentioned, so I said that if you were considering DC characters in general, then Lucifer, who is a DC character, would be the most powerful. However, I was saying that as a special case. I wasn't basing my whole arguement on it.

I'm saying Ion is the most powerful super-hero, and you're saying I'm wrong using non-super-hero examples?

Spectre isn't a super-hero, and even if he was, it's possible that pre-Green Lantern Corps Ion was more powerful.
