David Copperfield. None of the other illusionists have ever taken their wares to the scale David has. Over the top? Perhaps. Too dramatic? Maybe. But show me another illusionist who can pull it off in such grand scales.

Say what you want about him, but I've yet to see another illusionist make the Statue of Liberty disappear or walk through the Great Wall of China, amongst others.

Umm...Out of the real ones, Houdini is the greatest Magician of all time. The modern day magicians are a joke.
Of the character magicians, Gob is the best of course.

He was definately great, but IMO Dai Vernon was better, he actually stumped Houdini. He just wasn't as famous because his tricks were just leight of hand as opposed to Houdini's elaborate ones which obviously got much more attention. I will agree that Houdini was amazing though.

modern magicicans are a sad bunch of Vegas rejects. Magic used to have style, it used to be about acting and skill. Nowadays it's about being a git in a sparkly outfit who can afford really expensive pyrotechnics OR it's about doing stuff the guys from Jackass are afraid to.


I dunno if Houdini was really as great as his legend purports, but out of the real ones, he's definitely the greatest.
