Fey had 30 Rock, Poehler has Parks and Rec, Samberg as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Armisen has Portlandia, Seth Meyers has his own late night show, Mulaney is a show that somehow exists...

Who's next? I vote Hater. And not on some CBS multicam crap either. I want him on a real comedy.

Part of me also wants to say Hader, but so much of what I love about him is the different characters and impersonations he does. Obviously, a lot of that would be lost in a sitcom. I think Jason Sudeikis might fit the sitcom mold better.

Both Sudekis and Hader are movie stars now, will be awhile till they go to TV. As much as I love Samberg, the only reason he and other SNL'ers have TV Shows is because their movie careers didnt take off.

That's a little cold, not to mention rather presumptuous. Some would argue that doing television is infinitely more challenging, and more rewarding.

Hader's already out doing other stuff.

I'm gonna pick a current cast member. It's definitely gonna be one of the females for sure. After yesterday's news, I'll go with Cecily Strong but I also think Kate McKinnon is going to have a huge career too.

Those would be my picks. They're the two strongest female cast members on the show be far, and McKinnon in particular is one of the best on the show overall.

Of the two best castmembers right now (MacKinnon and Strong) I'd say MacKinnon. Just on a pure intuitive level, she seems more like someone you can build a TV show around.

I want either Sudekis or Hader. But I think Sudekis is more of a movie guy now.

None warrant any at the moment.

Wild as hell to see this thread (that I don’t even remember making) pop up on “Similar Threads” after Barry and Ted Lasso have wrapped up.

Little do we all know...

Who'd have also predicted that Tim Robinson who was only on the show for like two seasons would go on to make one of the funniest sketch shows out there.

Out of everyone who's in the current cast I can see Sarah Sherman getting her own show with the full creative freedom to get as weird with it as possible but I don't think she'll be leaving SNL for a good long while.

The weird thing about current SNL is I feel like almost none of these people have broken out at all. In past eras, even though I wasn’t a regular viewer, I felt like some cast members had made a name for themselves before going and striking out on their own.

Bowen Yang is the only one I feel even slightly aware of.

And even Yang at least has a semi-recurring role on Awkwafina is Nora From Queens on Comedy Central. The role's gotten smaller over time and it's not a lead role, but it's there.

I think it's just fewer and far between now. Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson are probably the two biggest ones in recent years but even then it's more like they're showing up in movies but they're almost never headlining them.

Out of the current cast I feel like there's a lot of potential in the newer cast members who've joined in the past 4 years or so (Bowen, Sarah Sherman, Marcello Hernandez, Chloe Troast to name a few) but they're all too new to start branching out with other stuff just yet.

Now you want a "holy ****, look at that murderer's row of talent" reaction? Take a look at the season 32 cast:

Basically everyone in this photo went on to post-SNL success to varying degrees with the exception of Kenan and Darrell Hammond since they're still involved with the show. Even during their run on the show in some cases, like Wiig with Bridesmaids and Sudeikis with Horrible Bosses towards the end of their tenure.

I'm actually surprised that Kenan is still with the cast because I thought he left years ago. Hammond I get still being around as the new announcer after Don Pardo passed, but it felt like Kenan's time on SNL came and went. I mean, the guy was a featured player when folks like Rachel Dratch- what's she done, lately?- and Chris Parnell were still around! At least Parnell has a lot of work in animation to his name post-SNL.

It's like that running joke of how Tim Meadows kept saying he was still with the cast.

I think Kenan just has a passion for sketch comedy and genuinely doesn't want to leave. Even when he briefly had his own show a few years ago he still stayed with SNL. I can understand it given he's been doing it since he was a kid on All That. Even though he's never been a breakout star on the show like an Eddie Murphy or a Will Ferrell, he's good in sketches thanks to his comedic timing and hilarious reactions.

Another vote for Kate I always thought she was awesome as hell and funny too, I admit she was probably other than Chris Hemsworth the only thing that was good about the all woman Ghostbusters film she was just amazing.

I don't even know whose on the cast anymore. I remember Chloe Fineman and Ego Nwodim of newer cast members, but that's about it

I forgot about Ego Nwodim for a second because there are so many cast members but she's really funny too. She's also one of the only newer cast members to have a non-Weekend Update recurring character with Lisa from Temecula.
