I totally am. :o

It's a live feed and there are no subtitles or English reporting, so I'm just sorta figuring out what's happening by context and my very rudimentary Spanish. Right now the first rescuer is going down the tunnel in the capsule. 15 minutes in a tiny tube - I'm pretty okay with small spaces but eeeeeuuuugh.

I'm not religious in the least but I'm praying for everything to go smoothly. God can't be so cruel as to mess this up, can he?

I watched about 2 minutes of it... and when they said it would take about an hour more to rescue those poor guys... I switched channels. An hour of commentary I can live without.

Oh and God didn't put those miners in that mine... it's called freedom of choice.

Yes, but God has a hand in all things doesn't he? So he could choose whether or not to make the tunnel collapse or something devastating like that. :oldrazz:

I don't have any commentary since I'm not watching CNN. :oldrazz: The first miner is coming up now. They showed his young son and he's so nervous and excited. :waa:

I thought a mine accident put those guys in there? :o

God didn't build the mine - God didn't neglect to shore it up properly. We make choices every day - we need to start taking responsibility for our choices.

YAY the first guy is out! He looked really good, very healthy and his young son was crying. :waa:

He's being taken to a hospital and he gave a thumbs up as he was wheeled away.

I like how we're tuning in like it's the Oscar nominations. :oldrazz:

This is one of those things that we are honestly going to remember years from now. I seriously think it'll be one of those things in the history books.

This is pretty amazing to watch. it was great to see that kid hug his Dad. I felt that exact same way when my Dad was in that Car Crash

:lmao: They should have brought the second guy up first. While still being pulled up he was having a yelling contest with the rescuers above, then after hugging his wife, presented the Chilean president with bits of rock from the mine. And then he ran to the group of onlookers to lead the Viva Chile cheer. He's like a football player who just got a touchdown. :funny: I'm surprised they were able to strap him down to be taken to the hospital.

It is historic...no other miner has been trapped underground and brought out alive this long before.

I'm actually a little hesitant to watch it because I'm afraid something tragic will happen.

It is really awesome that these miners are going to get out alive. Even if it is just one or two. This is amazing. I really hope this doesn't happen again.

I honestly don't know how they did it. I would have lost my sh** being confined that long. Major kudos to those guys.

I believe they're on #6 now. :woot: This next group is going to be guys who are not in the best physical shape, but my fingers are crossed...

Yeah I think that really points to the resilience of humanity, and my optimistic belief that if worse came to worst, people would work together to figure out how to survive. I mean, it was 33 guys sharing 48-hrs-worth of food rations to last 17 days before they were found.

I was really surprised how well these guys looked when they came up, especially miner #2. It legitimately looked like 2 months underground didn't dampen his personality one bit. :funny:

I hope they all make it out. It has been great to see the efforts to save them. Starving to death in the dark would be a horrible way to go.

Which studio will snap up the movie rights first? If you don't think it's not coming, you are not a hypester. Of course they won't discuss that until they're all out...unless they're trying to get a tentpole out for 2011. :o

The 2nd guy, the one who was leaping around and stuff, has a few chat show offers lined up.

It's one thing for it to make the news. But wtf these guys getting into the history books due to a company not doing its job with making sure that working areas are secure enough & an accident happens ? Please not going to happen & these guys are surely not heroes either

Pessimistic much?

This incident will be in the history books due to the fact that no one has survived this long before in a mine cavein.

If this incident causes new rules and regulations that increase mine safety around the world...then it will be in the history books again.

When these guys can stay in those cramped horrific conditions and not freak out and go nuts fighting each other and scrambling over the bodies of the ones they killed so that they can be the first out...then they are heroes.

Might be something for the book of records & still not heroes for just keeping their cool during this whole thing. All not freaking out during this shows is that these guys just might be cool people. I am just not buying into this hype

It's a story about triumph over adversity, the power of teamwork and the endurance of the human spirit. Sorry if it's not impressive enough for you.

History books (ever read one?) record things that happen. Notable events. The fact that it was several weeks after the cavein before the rescuers even knew they were alive is notable. Many rescue attempts in the past have been called off before this time because they figured they were dead already. These guys kept going. So now rescue attempts around the world will continue longer because of the precident this one set. When the world news is showing dailey people turning on each other in much less stressful conditions than this....the fact that they hung together and encouraged each other and helped each other is a notable event.

All I can say is.....they were damn lucky not to have you down there with them. We have too many Debbie downers around up here...they didn't need any down there with them.

The way you all talk about Minor #2. I keep pictureing Cuba Gooding Jr. in Jerry Maguire. So I suppose if they do make a movie they could cast him.

33 people stuck in a mine for months. Wow, I cannot believe no one didn't snap & start choking peeps. They all must have worked together for years & were like family.

& just in a perspective of humanity this is an amazing story. I know it has restored my faith in a pocket of humanity that I thought was on life support.

I listen to Adam Carolla's podcast & a while ago he asked a very good question. All this time they were down there. Were they on the clock? I hope so. Cause Miners about to get paid!

Miner #2 - Show me the money!
