Only 10-15 mins away. I've seen a bit of Ash fall from the sky.

On a serious note that can be very scary. I live in SoCal and know what it is like to be in the path of a fire. Be safe and I hope they get it out soon. The ash and smoke can make you sick all by themselves.

It's waterproof fire.

I live in East NC. It's about to rains here. Hearing thunder every so often. I'm not worried about it, unless I had to drive to Morehead (20 mins away?) or go to where it is, right next to tiny Newport.
 
Had one near me a few months ago, thanks to the Florida heat and drought. It was cool in a way, though.
