Wow. People walk by stabbed homeless man.

Chalk another one up for the "Reasons why I hate humanity" list!

Stunned... literally stunned..

What type of moron would walk past a person lying face first on the pavement without seeing if he was ok, or at least calling the police or an ambulance to check on him..homeless or not.

So a man saves a woman from being mugged & gets a blade in the gut & all he got for his act of bravery was about 20 people walking past him face first in the pavement with one uber ****rag stopping & taking a picture of him.. unbelievable.

Yeah, it's been known to happen. A guy also recently died on the train and his body rode around the city for a full 24 hours. Nobody noticed he was dead till the train back to the yard.

Would I have walked by the stabbed homeless guy? Most likely.

If you knew he was stabbed, would you still keep walking?

I think the main reason this is abhorrent is that he was actually crying out for help, yet nobody did anything. There's no excuse for not taking a moment to check what street your on, what building your next to, dial 911, and get some help. You're not required to stick around, so there's really no excuse for not doing something.

Anybody's who's lived in NY can understand how/why this could happen. I'v heard homeless people say very strange things before. Heck, even if I were one of the people who inspected his wound, I'd have been hesitant to attend to it myself but I maybe would have called 911. The guy to took a picture isn't surprising either, but shame on the person who shook him and then walked off.

You're taught to mind your business in NYC so as not to attract attention from people who would do you harm. Unfortunately, things like this happen as a result.

This kind of thing is all too common. It's little wonder I should find it so hard to have any faith in humanity.

That poor man. :(

Indeed. It is your responsibility as a citizen to report those kinds of things.

It's all too easy to shift responsibility to others rather than yourselves (we're doing it right now). The Bystander Effect is a known phenomena and is practically human nature.

We might all be saying to ourselves that we'd act differently, but I have no doubt these same people who walked by would have thought the same before this incident.

Eh, the one where the chick got raped in the middle of the street was worse.

Yes I would keep walking. I would call 911 but I'm not stopping for some screaming homeless guy. I have a friend who was shot by a homeless guy, nearly died too.

Huh, he's homeless, but he had a gun? You think he would sold it and got a motel room and some soup or something.

Motel room and soup feeds you one night and keeps you safe one night. A gun... well... that can keep you safe a lot longer if you know how to use it.

And get you enough money to get a motel room and soup. Teach a man to fish and all that. :o

Dude, that's what happened. My friend Chris was shot in the chest by a homeless guy because he was wearing a nice suit on his way home from work. There's a reason many of them are homeless, not the most rational mindset in most of them.

Oh totally. I didn't mean to sound rude or anything. Calling 911 is what I'd do too, the fact is no one did that.

Unfortunately, this is really the cause of it most likely.

I'd likely walk by too, simply because I don't want to get hurt myself by some crazy homeless person who wanted to rob me or something.
