X3's competition getting slammed by critics!

Advanced Dark said:
No I didn't. Someone else claimed Star Wars made 108 million and said than no way X3 would make Star Wars #'s. The fact is Star Wars made 158 million in 4 days and there is no comparision because my # and SW #'s are 58 million apart. I never suggested there was a comparison.

there's just no way it's going to make 100 million......... Star wars, Spiderman, and Pixar films are the only ones I can remember in the past few years that made around 100 million a weekend

lets say the reviews are so-so
that will scare away a good number of non fan boys
fan boys will go see this though
but there is no little kid aspect to this film, therefor eliminating parents and their kids, Spiderman, Star wars and of course, pixar films, heck, and shrek had this major audience going for them, Spiderman is huge with lil kids right now too, but x-men doesn't appeal to a 6 year old the way spiderman or star wars does......

we can all agree that this film, is not a lil kid film, it's an adult film,

name me the last adult film that made around 100 million it's first weekend?

right there is where a lot of people are getting the comparisson.
so yes, you did answer your own question.

this thread got confusing to follow a few pages ago and things you said and others did probably merged into one.

Joker do you have cataracts? Jesus man you still dont' get it. I'm talking about a god damn 4 day weekend. Here's a hammer. Hit yourself in the head a few times. LOL

Didn't I make the bold print above large enough. 85 for first 3 days, 100 for 4 days. Star Wars and Spiderman exceeded that by a huge amount.

Ok let's start from scratch.

1) I said X-Men will make 100 million in 4 days.
2) Someone else said no way it'll make Star Wars #'s and showed a quote that Star Wars made 108 million in 3 days. (Which is wrong by the way.)
3) I said Star Wars made 158 million in 4 days not 108.
4) Then people said after this to me that no way it'll make Star Wars #'s. LOL

...and someone just said it again? Hello?

To say it's absurd and ridiculous that X3 will make X2 #'s and that I'm crazy that this could happen is absurd in itself. Ticket prices are a dollar higher almost. Some of you are estimating 60 million over 3 days which are comparable to X1 which had much less screens and $1.50+ less per ticket. LOL

Use your heads guys before you respond.

The 100 million is for 4 days on Memorial Day Weekend. Not the Winter.

I hope you aren't crying to much when the numbers come out next tuesday

LOL I'll know on Saturday morning when X3 opens up with 30 million on Friday, 30-33 million on Saturday, 25 million on Sunday, and 15 million on Monday. That's whay I know. Adjust for inflation and compare to X2's figures. There is no slump...there's just a lack of great event films. When the good ones come out they make money...when the bad one comes out they say it's a slump.

this movie is not going to get the good reviews x2 got, do you get that??
this movie does not have the following liks a star wars, harry potter, even spiderman films do??
the so-so reviews that it will get will hurt this film.....
x3, is not as hot as jurassic park 2 was..... I know the movie wasn't that good, but it was very anticipated, more so then x3 is

JokerNick said:
no it's not because the holiday is added into the total

Yeah your right it's a 4 day total but uh that's 1997 figures. LOL

You can't compared 1997 to 2006 without adjusting for inflation.

Average ticket price in 1997 $4.59 per ticket.

Average ticket price in 2006 $6.40 ticket

That's $1.81 per ticket difference. You could sell far few tickets today to make 92 million. That's a 39.4% difference. Huge.

92 million in 1997 x 139.4% = $128,248,000 in today's dollars to sell the same # of tickets as the Lost World in 4 days.

^ That won't happen. However X3 will make 100 million in 4 days, and in doing so it'll will sell fewer tickets than Lost World. That wasn't my prediction though. I'm talking dollars.

There you go with your Spiderman/Star Wars comparisons again? Why do you keep doing that. I never said X3 will make those #'s.

YearAvg. Price2006Est.$6.402004$6.212003$6.032002$5.812001$5.662000$5.391999$5.081998$4.691997$4.591996$4.421995$4.351994$4.181993$4.141992$4.151991$4.211990$4.23

the comparisons are because of the reviews that will come out, bad reviews couldn't hurt those movies but it can hurt a movie like this....... you can't tell me that this movie will get stellar reviews.....

Sorry but IMO you are way off....

Look you have to consider this....just by default X3 makes huge numbers memorial day weekend...

MI3 was not a huge action hit.
Posiedon flopped

Da Vinchi and the code split up movie goers this weekend

X Men 2 had huge numbers..... pretty much all those people and more are coming back for the finale....

The reviews are probubly going to be better then most think and the young and old teen aggers esspecialy are going to want to go see the big eyecandy movie of the summer... and right now even if it is simply by default...meaning nothing else really has the action eye candy factor X Men 3 does huge business over the memorial day weekend

Teen age boys esspecaily who make a large part of the Box office audience are all pretty much dieing to see this movie.... those kids ain't interested in Da Vinchi... they are probubly going to see over the Hedge all hoppped up on Pot rather then to go see a taught melodramma about religion

It may not be a lil kid film...but it aint exactly adult either.... it is teenager eye candy action

It's ridiculous for Joker to say those movies can't be hurt by bad reviews but X3 can. It's also ridiculolus to ignore inflation when comparing box office totals of a 1997 film to a film released today when ticket prices are almost 40% higher.

100 million in 4 days.

Hey Joker what's your estimate again? Please put it down.

yes, it is a teenager, early 20s film............. x2 I believe was more adult, x3 is eye candy, and I don't think adults or lil kids want to see it

I said 50 - 60 for the weekend

add another 10 to 15 mill for the holiday
