X3's competition getting slammed by critics!

Over the Hedge will NOT be number one this weekend. Sorry but bad reviews will not, and never do keep the masses away from such a hype up film. Maybe if the film really is as bad as critics say it is, it will have a massive second week drop, but there is no way it won't get number 1 this weekend. And I am wondering if X3 will be a big hit. That too will have a massive opening weekend, but whether anybody likes it nor also awaits to be seen. That too might have a massive second week drop. I think Superman Returns and Pirattes of the Carribean sequel will be the big winners of the summer.

And someone was asking if Ron Howard ever directed a thriller? He directed Ransom with Mel Gibson. That was a thriller, and a damned good one. Only Ron Howard movie that I have seen that I didn't like was The Missing. All the rest i've liked. Whether the Da Vinci Code sucks or not, i'll judge fo rmyself. I loved the book, and i couldn't give a crap less what critics say about any movie. It won't stop me from seeing it. People who let critics be thier guide to movies need a good smack in the face anyway.
UGGHHH.... Ransom was mediocre.

The Missing was dull.
Ransom didn't look so great.
A Beautiful Mind was B O R I N G and factually inaccurate.

a lot of people always look at reviews.
they're a good way to guage what to expect in a film.

whether you agree or not depends on personal choice.
The one thing I think people will be looking at is Routh. There is an insane amount of pressure on him. I feel sorry for him

you missed my point.
Ice Age 2 is, thus far, the highest grossing film.

i said Over the Hedge will open at #1, not that it would be the highest grossing. there's no chance for that to happen. i just explained why kids movies are performing so well this year, the year before that, and before that, and...

Oh gotcha. I hope it is #1 this weekend. It's a safe bet and with DaVinci getting some lousy reviews it might just turn some adults to just take their kids to see "Hedge" and rent DaVinci.

Ransom was good. Ron Howard is just directing movies that are self important now and that's it.

UGGHH...no it wasn't. It was a great movie. As was A Beautiful Mind. The Missign was crap though. And the only critics people listen to are friends, neighbors, so on and so fourth. If people LIKE the Da Vinci Code, it will keep making money despite the critics. People listen to other people, not critics.

me too!
poor thing...i'd hate to have to try and fill Chris Reeve's shoes. he made dialogue like "I fight for truth, justice, and the American way" sound like poetry!

i don't know if it helps or hurts that he looks so much like Reeve.
i hope he delievers. i am also worried about Bosworth, Posey, Penn, and strangely - Spacey. he seems to be hamming it up too much to truly be the Luthor that we all know from the comics.

A Beauitful Mind was as bland and Oscar baiting as a movie could get! they also changed his life beyond recognition. his wife left him, he was jailed, and a bisexual...you didn't see that in the movie know did you?

Penn will always be Kumar and Taj to me.

Bosworth...undecided.

I'm worried about Posey's hair lol

And as for the new superman film, im waiting for that one too, but i would think after 4 Lex films theyd move onto the huge villains.

Penn and Posey make me worried because Singer said he got rid of the campy sidekicks for Luthor and yet...here's Penn and Posey...
maybe Penn will surprise me and do a great dramatic performance like John Cho did in Grey's Anatomy. but i'm not so sure....

don't remind me :( Wasn't Aliens 5 going to be about the aliens arriving on Earth. That would have been good.

Alien 3 was going to be about the aliens coming to Earth. The teaser was basically the same thing as the teaser for the original movie...but it went "In 1979, audiences learned that in space, no one can hear you scream. In 1992, audiences will learn that on Earth, everyone can you scream."

Then it showed the alien egg opening over Earth. We all went nuts seeing that teaser in the theater...then a year later we got the prison movie. Ugh. People actually booed when they killed Newt.

that was in the first 10 min too!
i hate that they killed Newt....

It totally defeated the point of the 2nd movie.

^ It did yet the only point of a sequel with Ridley in it was for them to carry the alien back with them. Otherwise it had no way to get to the space station and then eventually to Earth. And making another Alien films with the Marines going back to the Alien planet would be rehash. They really needed Sigourney's character to not be in part 3 and have the government harvesting the alien eggs for biological weapons and have them escape from an Earth based lab.

I have always felt the mayjor mistake in the Alien sequals...was they never adressed the derelict space ships origins... you know the one with the mumified time traveler that was sending out the warning beacon in part 1.

Where do the Aliens come from.... are they simply a parasite to those larger biomechanical organisms that grow out of thier chairs for space flights....

the Aliens are a parasitical biomechanical organism that takes on the traits of their host bodies from incubation. they're nomadic in nature.

a lot of this is explained in the Alien Quadrilogy boxset. good stuff...:)

I still haven't seen all of the Alien films..

I think I've only seen Aliens, and probably not all of it.. :(

I hated Aliens 3. It was too dark for my taste. They freaking killed Newt and the one-eyed dude (forgot his name).

Alien 3 is the universally most hated of the franchise.
you'd be surprised how many actually like Resurrection. i know i did.
