Xbox Xbox Series X|S Thread

Looks like I may just have to prepare for another preorder marathon tomorrow.........sigh.

;)

I wonder how this will affect Starfield and ES VI, which are already in development.

IMO, it would be a HUGE missed opportunity to not secure exclusive rights to those games.
Unless early exclusivity deals have already been accepted, we should expect Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI to be Xbox/PC only.

It's too late for Deathloop and GhostWire: Tokyo, but it'll be funny to see the Xbox Game Studios logo show up on those timed PS5 exclusives. :hehe:

If I were MS, as part of this deal, I would have included language to make sure that Starfield and ES VI will be Xbox/PC exclusive.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. But now MS is truly a WRPG powerhouse with Obsidian, inExile, and now Bethesda! That's kind of hard for me to overlook. And just when I thought everything was set now that I preordered my PS5, MS had to go and do this.

Well played MS. Well played.

Thankfully for me those are my top type of games :) This is very good news indeed. Surprised there is not a thread of its own on this.

It's all under Xbox basically.

Also, I know that my view of Phil Spencer's leadership has been waning over the past several years.

But, I want to give credit where credit is due. This acquisition is HUGE. So, congrats Phil Spencer and Team Xbox!

I have zero interest in getting a PS5 or new PlayStation console ever again. When I get a next gen console it's going to be the Series X.

I think backwards compatibility is important and Sony doesn't, so honestly I'm not interested in them anymore.

That does make you wonder how Bethesda and Obsidian will gel, now that they are under the same roof.

Obsidian did a "Fallout clone" with Outer Worlds. And Avowed looks to be their "Elder Scrolls clone."

However, now that the "real" Fallout and Elder Scrolls are also on Team Xbox, it feels like Obsidian will need to make Avowed and Outer Worlds feel different enough so that they won't be overshadowed by the Bethesda games.

Well, talk about a last minute mic-drop game-changer!! MS buys Bethesda!! Holy ****!!

It’s crazy! This is way bigger than buying the WB games division. Much better value with all the IPs in tow even for nearly double the price.

Yep!! I had been saying that it would take MS buying a major game studio/company to get me interested in Xbox again. This certainly fits that bill!

If this means that future Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, as well as the new Starfield, will be exclusive to the Xbox/PC family, that's a huge deal to me that I can't overlook.

Of course, it's still possible MS will allow those franchises/ips to be multiplat like Minecraft. However, I feel that would be a huge mistake and waste the potential of this deal.

Xbox NEEDS the selling point that it is the exclusive console home to franchises like Fallout and Elder Scrolls.

So is MS slowly becoming the Disney of software?

Elder Scrolls is no.1 for me. That’s a system seller.
Doom a strong no. 2.
Fallout, Wolfenstein, Dishonored and Rage are all big exclusives to have.

Elder Scrolls would be the biggest one for me, too. And who knows what Starfield will be like.

Is that on pc only?
What, Starfield?

It was announced for next-gen systems and PC, I believe. Now, the question is, will it still come to PS5 or will it (and ES 6) be exclusive to Xbox/PC.

Oh right, gotya. For some reason I had it in my head that it was pc only. Even better (although I’ll still get it on pc most likely).

Good. They should honour existing deals, but after that it benefits gamepass most if the games are exclusive to services with gamepass.

Once again, as a PC gamer, this news doesn't really affect my decision of which console to get. I'm still going to wait to see what exclusives both systems will have.

Honestly I’m happy for Xbox it’s about time they started fighting back cause Sony was whooping their ass.
