Wow that’s a nail in the coffin for Sony
Yeah, I think it's the generation after this that will really feel the impact of this now gaming-focused Microsoft. It's the first generation in a while where all the console makers seem to be doing well, while pc is thriving also.its huge but not a nail in the coffin for Sony. Xbox still hasnt made enough 1st party games to pouch the sony userbase. but i do believe that the impact will be really felt for the next generation of gaming systems.
Most people outside the us still see the xbox as the console for people who mostly love first person shooters. buying all these game companies and producing new game will help to change that narrative. As of now Sony is fine. you didint mention it but nintendo has been fine even when people said they will die out. i expect the same with sony.
I disagree. Call of duty alone has way too much marketshare for Sony to compete.its huge but not a nail in the coffin for Sony. Xbox still hasnt made enough 1st party games to pouch the sony userbase. but i do believe that the impact will be really felt for the next generation of gaming systems.

Unless they counter this by purchasing Take Two, which they can't, this is the beginning of the end for PlayStation.
Watch all the hype for Ps5 fall apart within the next two years because this won't be the last time mS makes a power move of a kingpin magnitude
"Available as needed". You're not needed at all you ****!
Kotick is gone after the deal has been finalized.
I'm one of those gamers that doesn't care for COD......lol.CoD is huge no doubt. but im saying Sony isnt hughe because of CoD. outside the west Xbox is not the number one console. and CoD isnt popular out the west. yes the market is as huge but it is respectable.
COD is no the nail in the coffin. its the same people that buy CoD every year. There are lots of people who dont care for CoD dont just disregard their buying power as well.

Really, as big as this news is for the industry, it doesn't affect me too much personally as a gamer. The only Activision/Blizzard property that I really care about would be Diablo. I had planned to get Diablo IV on PS5. Now, I'll be getting it for Series X. I will also now be playing Diablo III on Xbox instead of PS.
However, Diablo alone isn't a needle-mover for me. And on the whole, I still care more about the games and types of games that are on Playstation. The RPGs and fighting games, primarily from Japanese/Eastern devs, still favor Playstation. And that it why I still favor Playstation.
So, no, I don't think this is a nail in the coffin to Playstation. Playstation isn't going anywhere just like Nintendo isn't going anywhere.
What could be challenged, though, is Playstation's continued dominance or lead in the console race. If MS continues to make big acquisitions like this, and produces the content to back it up, I could legit see Xbox becoming the #1 console again in a few years time. But that doesn't mean Sony/Playstation is suddenly dead.
What it does mean is that Sony can no longer afford to be complacent in their current dominant position. All of these exclusive 3rd-party deals are nice for individual games. But, if this trend of industry acquisition/consolidation continues, with even "big" 3rd party names no longer "safe," then Sony is going to have to be more aggressive in that area.
I know that Sony doesn't have the same buying power as MS. But, I feel they should now seriously start considering acquiring "big" 3rd party studios like Square Enix or Capcom - studios which they have had long histories with and that tie into their strengths. What would be worse for Sony is if MS does buy up a big name JDev like Square or Capcom, because THAT would hit Sony directly in its base.
Consumers are going to be getting so many big games on game pass day 1 that it seems unreal. Even if the price of game pass went up a lot it would be far less than buying a $70 game a month. Plus you don't even need to buy a console any more to play these. PC, mobile, browser, with direct on TV streaming coming. I've never been happier with this ecosystem. Game pass is already great for me even without anything from Bethesda or Activision and before the other studios start dropping their games.I just don't see enough investment from Sony's Playstation Division. Aside from Sony's acquisition of a studio or two... Microsoft is outright buying publishers.
However, with so much power Microsoft is wielding there's a responsibility to consumers and stockholders that needs to be met. And when you get so big... that's really what remains to be seen.
I hope Sony's having a meeting right now and straight up grilling Jim as to why his team is starting to lag behind. If anything, this news today has motivated me to fire up my Series X and actually start using it.......lol. Especially playing Diablo III on Xbox.....haha!
Like it or not, the landscape of the industry is changing. MS has proven once again that they are willing to literally throw a **** ton of cash to acquire not just one studio but a whole portfolio of studios in one deal.I hope Sony's having a meeting right now and straight up grilling Jim as to why his team is starting to lag behind.
If I were Sony, I need to see a Plan on what's Playstation's next moves. Unless, that is, everyone in Sony is aware and they've been struggling to come up with an answer to Microsoft.
Yeah, Nintendo feel like they're operating in their own space which isn't really threatened by all this.who knows what sony will do. They will be having meetings. Im very curious to see what happens next. i feel if MS keep buying up stuidos lets say they buy EA, maybe we could see sony and Nintendo teaming up. but Nintendo dont need that. their user base is the most loyal of them all.

Microsoft took away Banjo-Kazooie from Nintendo and now Crash and Spyro from PlayStation.Crash bandicoot and Spyro as Xbox exclusives. We certainly do live in Interesting Times
cod has been the best selling game for practically every year. even with the decline in sales for Vanguard, it and Cold War were the two best selling games of December last year. regardless of anyone's opinion of the game, the lack thereof on playstation in the future is going to hurt a lot, a lot, a lot for SonyCoD is huge no doubt. but im saying Sony isnt hughe because of CoD. outside the west Xbox is not the number one console. and CoD isnt popular out the west. yes the market is as huge but it is respectable.
