Drumroll please.... the voice cast announcedp/b]:

SEGA Europe Ltd and SEGA of America, Inc. today announced the celebrity cast for its upcoming video game, Yakuza. Slated for release on Sept. 5th 2006, the critically acclaimed game is currently being localized for a western audience. To ensure a fully cinematic experience for players, the game will feature the distinctive voice work of Hollywood actors including Michael Rosenbaum, Michael Madsen, Eliza Dushku, Rachel Leigh Cook, and Mark Hamill to compliment its stunning visuals and engaging storyline.

Yakuza, scripted by noted Japanese novelist Hase Seishu, features an intricate storyline driven by loyalty, honor, and revenge. The seasoned Hollywood cast will bring the widely varied characters to life with both subtle and impassioned performances. Adding his signature voice to the cast, Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Sin City) plays Shimano, a physically imposing Yakuza boss who relies on brutality to achieve his selfish goals; Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) voices Nishiki, a ruthless Yakuza member who has turned against his childhood friend, Kazuma, out of bitter jealousy; Eliza Dushku, (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Bring It On) voices Yumi, who grew up with Nishiki and Kazuma in an orphanage, and is at the center of the mystery; Rachel Leigh Cook (She’s All That) plays Reina, owner of the Serena hostess bar, whose secret love leads her down a road of betrayal; and Mark Hamill (Star Wars, Batman: New Times) voices the insane Majima, a violent Yakuza boss with a twisted sense of honor.

For Gamera

Zenien, if you didn't like girls I'd totally be in love with you and all.

This game has me by the nuts

Mark Hamill'll do anything for a bit of spare cash these days... *cough* Wolverine's Revenge *cough*

For me to poop on!

(I actually haven't played it, it's just that I've been waiting years to use that phrase :()

Michael Rosenbaum rules, Rachel Leigh Cook is adorable and Mark Hamill sucks.

Also, Michael Madsen is a fat, bad actor who I can't stand, and I don't know who that other chick is, but she better be hot.

I can hear Hamill's Joker voice perfectly fitting Majima and Rosenbaum as Nishiki also seems like a good choice. I don't know much about those other people though. So no one is announced as Kazuma yet though?

Eliza = Overrated and incredibly average looking.
Also, she looks like a man.

This is one of those jokes you are famous and beloved for, right? right?
:( :( :( :(

Is Yakuza like Shenmue in anyway or is this Japan's answer to GTA? No Kevin Conroy....?

Its shenmue with less 'Looking for Sailors' and more '***** slapping'.

It's sort of both I guess. Less the answer to GTA though, and you don't go hijacking cars adn such unless it's specifically a story point thing.

This looks good. I like the game cover. The letters are pretty cool.

Yeah, I used to like her quite a bit, but now?
It's all gone :(

never saw the appeal, really. she's got a jaw like a Bruce Timm drawing.

I can't wait to buy it and cover the front in tape so that I can write "Shenmue III" in black marker.

English Game intro with the english VA.

"We wanted to include the Japanese voice acting on the DVD as an alternate language in the options menu, but unfortunately there just wasn't enough room on the DVD for us to do so."

:(

Even if the English VA is superb, I'd prefer Japanese vocals with an amazing dub.

Oh god the English voice actors are horrible. :(

You shouldn't considering that Yakuza is set in freaking Tokyo deep in the city and culture of the Red Light District. I'd prefer Japanese voice acting with a great sub then english voice acting that loses the flavor.

If it's in another language, even if the voice acting is 'ok' you like don't notice the 'ok-ness' nearly as much as you do when it's in your own language because you know the proper conotations and emphasisms.

And the english voice acting that I did hear made me sad. At least they aren't neutering it to a PG-13 rating. :(
