Comics YES! Oh boy! News strip tpb!

Awesome!

I have read a bit of this stuff, but not much.
Looks like Volume one collects the strips from 1977-1980.
Since it’s Lee/Romita, it’s kinda like the continuing adventures of the real Spider-man.

16th May badass.

our local paper florida today carries the spider-strip

hmm.. interesting.. it collects the dailies and the Sunday strips, right?

..anyway.. i keep up with the current stuff here and there.. but the current artists are just okay..

Who should take over the strip when Stan decides to retire?

...and somebody should collect the Hulk newspaper strips, though they only lasted a little while..

I'm glad this not coming out till May, since I don't really have the spare cash right now.
Seem to be spending all my mo' on the weekly titles, then videogames.

Anyone remember The Rattler? He was a snake-guy...

I remember him. That was about the first story in the newspaper strip, I think..

I'll likely be picking these up. It'll be fun re-reading those old strips.

I'm still looking for the daily strips for the Lizard story from November 2002-January 2003. I was lucky enough to have another Hype member send me the Sunday color strips from that story but it would be nice to get those daily strips too.

Unless there are plans to reprint the more recent strips in book form, I might have to find a newspaper that carries the Spidey strip (none of my local papers do) and then dig up those old strips from a library microfiche.

What newspaper is that, may I ask?

Anyone know where you could view the newspaper strips online? I remember years ago Marvel use to have them up on their website. The first story I read was about Spidey fighting a werewolf (it wasn't Man-Wolf or Werewolf by Night, it was some old bum).

That's a great way to put it. As wonderful as other writers have been, the voice of Spider-Man is Stan Lee. If I was Sam Raimi, and I'm not, I'd have Stan write dialogue for Spidey in the movies. Then I'd contemporize it, maybe have Jerry Seinfeld or someone punch it up, and have Maguire use it.

Yup PP/SM is Stan Lee, or is it vice versa...?
I remember him musing over this once in an interview, how when he writes PP and webhead it is just the way he himself speaks.

That idea is either the most ******ed thing I've ever heard or the most genius.

Good job.
