recent filmography. We all know that he's an Academy Award winning multi-Oscar nominee; still, do you think he really even tries anymore? Are arguably bad film choices going to damage him in the long run?

I really dislike him for some reason

So far his recent filmography has been hilarious. I actually bought Ghost Rider on DVD because I can't stop laughing during it. Though unfortunately Lord of War gets clumped into his recent slate of crap.

Hard to take him seriously with that rug on his head. Who is he trying to kid?!

I guess when some actors get an oscar, they feel that their goal is accomplished so now they can be in any movie they want.

And winning another oscar doesn't matter because one is good enough.

I've never bought Nic Cage as the action movie star. It's his looks. He just looks like he should be playing in serious dramas, but then they'd blow cause he's not that great of an actor to begin with.

Cage is actually a very good actor, just watch some of his great films as Leaving Las Vegas, Matchstick Men or Adaptation. His only problem is that he can't stop trying to prove that he is an action star, although his dramas/thrillers are way better than that crap which he has been working on for years ruining his career.

I'm all for the cage but I agree he has made a lot of rubbish as of late. Ghost Rider? Next? Bankok Dangerous? Two National Treasure movies?

It's like he's deliberately trying to slide down to straight to DVD. What happened to the ultra-cool superstar of the late 90's who stradeled award-winning dramas and action blockbusters with quirky aplomb?

I like him but his acting is not that good :o

I love him in films like Raising Arizona, Matchstick Men, Adaptation, and Weather Man. His recent films have really killed him though.

I liked a good bit of Nic Cage's '90's work. Not everything, but a very decent amount.

And the same goes for some of the films he appeared in during the early part of the 2000's.

Here lately? Not so much. No.

Haha, Nic Cage is hilarious. His bad hair styles, the shape/look of his face, ****ty recent movies, his terrible voice...whenever I see a preview that has him in it and he's narrating I get a good laugh out of it. He's not a bad actor, he can be a good actor...but lately he's been making poor choices. Haha, he is pretty damn funny in my opinion.

The best role he's had in the last ten years was as Fu Manchu in "Grindhouse", and that was only a ten second appearance!

^^^

And what about crazy Charlie Kaufman from Adaptation or nervous Roy Waller from Matchstick Men?

Like any actor, there's some of Nicolas Cage's films that I enjoy, and others I don't. Of the former, I'd say a few of my faves are "Guarding Tess", "Con Air", "The Rock", "Gone in 60 Seconds", "City of Angels", and "Face/Off" (although the language in that was way overkill). One which I liked at one point but soon decided against was "Ghost Rider" (not due to his performance, but rather the film's warped spirituality which ultimately unnerved me).

Maybe he hasn't been offered the choice roles that he needs to get back on top.

I hate his voice, its not even his real voice!!! why pick such a bad one.

This is the guy who very almost played Superman, and was also up for Iron Man.

Any guy who takes his name from Luke Cage and then names his son Kal-El is alright by me.

A couple of recent films don't make me forget all of the talent that goes into his performances.

I try not to use a film's overall quality as an excuse to somehow belittle an actor's talent. You need to look at things the way they are.

We've all seen great actors in bad movies (88 minutues comes to mind). Al Pacino was great in the movie, but the movie itself was pretty sloppy and generic. It never made me think that he didn't deserve all of the praise he received in all of his great movies from years ago.

The same goes with Nic Cage or anybody.

His movies are all entertaining in their own way.

Cage is waging a one man campaign to bring the mullet back. Almost as odious as Van Dammes effort in Hard Target but not quite.
