Yes, I mean as in "the game will not look like that in the final version". Even if they had it running full time, it was probably without the draw distance, ai, and physics of the final game that will cause a tuning down of the graphics.

Sony has sold more 100 million units WW if you dont think atleast 50 million is gonna buy the ps3, you must be in total denial.

Yes, but how many tens of millions of those were 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th units sold to the same person, because their old PS2s keep breaking? I soooo wish I could get a good estimate on how many unique buyers there are for each system.
