Given how well the Conservatives performed in the election, it is a good indictment of his style of politics. I understand a big part of the Conservative loss generally is that Doug Ford and his provincial PC machine did not support Poilievre. Ford even did a photo op with Carney.
I'm already seeing this being the lesson for Cons in Canada on Reddit. They're saying Ford should come back to lead the party.Given how well the Conservatives performed in the election, it is a good indictment of his style of politics. Hopefully, this will confirm that Canadian do not support American MAGA-style politics and we will see the federal Conservative Party tack back towards the centre.
NDP split to the Liberals and Conservatives. Some BQ votes also have gone to LPC.Bad news for NDP, but I'm seeing a lot of Canadians who usually vote NDP didn't want to risk PP turning over Canada to Trump and voted Liberal.
On one hand, the supply and confidence agreement was really great for that and for getting progressive programs like dental care and drug cost coverage.NDP split to the Liberals and Conservatives. Some BQ votes also have gone to LPC.
I'll give props to Singh, though. Probably sacrificed his career and party so the CPC would lose. I hope they can find a great leader (a true successor to Jack Layton) so the party will rise up again and, hopefully, we will see another Orange wave like the one back in 2011.
I'm seeing calls to break up the CPC and cast out the far right into their own party again. MAGA ideology isn't working in Canada. On one hand, the supply and confidence agreement was really great for that and for getting progressive programs like dental care and drug cost coverage.
But the way he pulled his support in the fall was so close to giving us a PP majority government that I am not sure I can forgive him. He also set the NDP back decades with crazy promises this election cycle like saying we would build our own fighter jets here despite not having the necessary infrastructure and the decades it would take to build it.
It's nice having two strong centre-left parties here, but we also need to remember that the 2011 Orange Wave came with a Harper majority government.
