Living in Minority: Canadian Politics

I don't know how many fellow Canadians are out there, but I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can specifically discuss our own messed up political stage. I'm a poli sci major; I can't NOT discuss it, lol.

I am a liberal at heart. An Albertan Liberal, if you can believe such a thing exists :P But Ignatieff is really starting to annoy me. It's a shame things didn't go better for Dion. I liked him. He just never got the chance to get settled before the stupid (and uncessesary) election *sigh*. No matter how much I LOVE voting (it's like a weird sort of special occastion for me... I know... it's sad) I just can't see Ignatiuff's justification for thinking NOW is a good time to bring down the government. Like Rick Mercer pointed out last Tuesday; we're looking at a long line of Conservative Minority governements if the lot of them don't smarten up.

So, post your views, opinions, rants, whatever! Canadian Politics; federalism at its most mediocre.

I can't stand the Liberals, and will likely die before ever voting for them, but I must say that as Canadians, if we pass up the opportunity to have Ignatieff as our prime minister it will be an opportunity wasted.

That being said, in Canada it's impossible to vote directly for Prime Minister, so I will likely waste my vote on the Green Party in the next election. Politically, I guess I am best described as a socially progressive fiscal conservative, which means there isn't a single party in this country that reflects my views.
