🏈 NFL - Game On

The bottom line is that the Rams seem to be trying to catch the Giants when it comes to blowing leads late in the game and losing. It could be argued that they should have won every, single game they've lost this year. I knew they were in trouble when they changed their defense (a la Giants) to "slow" the Hawks when they were up by 16. When are these D coordinators going to learn to stick with what was working......

Not to mention two of their four losses come down to simply not being able to kick the ball. Baffles me how these teams can't find reliable kickers or have decent special teams.

Yeah.....the Rams look like the best team in the league from the standpoint of offense and defense, but special teams count too. That being said, the Eagles loss came down to not being able to block the rushers, but, hell, dude mighta missed the kick anyway. LOL

And just like that they fire their Special Teams Coordinator. Can't remember the last time I saw a *winning* team do that down the stretch.

True story. When the Raiders came back to Oakland in the mid 90s, my buddy and I got season tickets for 10 years that included having to buy PSLs (aka Personal Screwing Licenses). It was a lot of fun and I actually got to meet some of the Raiders' players (including Jerry Rice.....have you ever been so nervous that you don't remember, and don't want to remember, the incomprehensible string of words that are supposed to pass for language that come out of your mouth?). I also met Lincoln Kennedy, who is SO FREAKING BIG that he might as well be a different species. Dude(tte)s, standing in front of him makes you feel like you just fell out of someone's pocket.

Ahhhhh......but I digress. I met Fred Biletnikoff who was the receivers coach at the time. Let me tell you about this guy....He was one of the most down to earth, nicest guys you will ever meet in your life. He had a black, wide brimmed stetson hat with a couple of long feathers on the side. He actually came out to the parking lot an hour of so after the game (it's conceivable we may have had an after hours tailgate that included adult beverages, but I have no clear recollection of these possible allegations) to talk to some of the fans and told us about the greasy spoon restaurant he'd take his family to every Sunday before the game, etc. etc., but what really struck me was his description of special teams and the coaching. He said it was the only part of the game where major aspects of it had no rhyme or reason. He said it drove him crazy, that you just can't plan for some of the weirdness that happens on returns, and it's completely and utterly chaotic.

I don't think the Rams firing their coach is surprising or unwarranted and I personally doubt it will help them at this point, but if it does, they are going to be a very, very tough out. .

Rams v Seahawks Part Deux.

Glad for Chicago fans.....

My Panthers pretty much need to win today if they want a shot at the division. In the end, whatever happens, they've met my expectations this season and were in the playoff hunt toward the end. Next season it should be 10+ wins and a deep playoff run.

If my Panthers don't make it, I'll be rooting for the Bears, Lions, Packers or Seahawks out of the NFC. All the other teams have made a Super Bowl in the last 5 years.

As for the AFC, I think anyone other than New England or Denver would be great. I'm still salty over those Super Bowl losses.

Wildly entertaining slate today. End of the Steelers/Lions game was crazy.

I've been trying to find that final play as I only saw it once. That didn't look like OPI to me. Refs were garbage in a lot of games today.

The NFL and NFLRA negotiate a new deal after the season and I hope that they make the refs full time. They're also going to negotiate to implement performance based pay and possible consequences for missed calls.

The final OPI call I thought could've gone either way, but the one a few plays before that took off the other TD was a joke. That call was awful. It wasn't even a pick play. He got pushed into the defender while running a route.

I finally watched that ending again and I agree, could've been called either way. I've always been on the side of letting them play. So I think they should have not thrown the flag. It's a tough situation because if you don't throw the flags, then Pittsburgh is crying for OPI.

Just saw there's another path for the Panthers to win the South and they don't even have to win another game.

If TB loses to MIA and the Falcons win out, the Panthers win the South. Obviously Atlanta beating the Rams is a complete long shot, but they have been playing better with Cousins back as QB. Miami looked like crap with their backup rookie QB Quinn Ewers, so TB losing that is another long shot.

Seen some crazy things happen in the NFL and this would be one of them. I'm already preparing for that week 18 showdown Sunday night on NBC.

Here's another path to the title. All they have to do is be consistent.....

WLWLWLWLWLWLW :funny:

Seahawks and Bucs to go.

EDIT: I've been thinking about it and, if the Panthers do win their division and they face the likely #5 seed, the Rams, I think things might get a little bit ugly for them. The way I see it, the Rams, Seahawks, and 9ers are, respectively, the best teams in the west. The Rams would come into that game with a bad, bad attitude and, while anything could happen......

The problem with the Colts is not at QB.....

Hey I'll take that path any day. lol

I don't see us making it past the Wild Card round against any team to be honest, but if there was a team I would want to play, it's Seattle or Green Bay. Sam Darnold is the only QB out of those 3 in the West that really hasn't had that playoff success(he was terrible last year in the WC game against the Rams).

The Packers are without Parsons now and they really haven't won against anyone relevant outside of the Bears and Lions.

This incessant need by these cheap bastards that own these teams to MAYBE host the Super Bowl once every 10 years is killing the sport. All these ugly same same dome stadiums. Awful. Arrowhead is one of the few remaining with personality. The reason you're not getting a Super Bowl isn't because the roof is open, the reason is no one wants to go to Kansas City.

But whoopty doo. More pricing out the actual fans in these buildings because prices are ridiculously stupid.

I have a sneaking suspicion they will be the 4 seed and facing the 5 seed Rams.....that is a terrible, terrible match up for Carolina.....Rams are gonna be pissed and I can't see the Panthers hanging with them unless the Rams implode (again).

Yeah I don't see us beating the Rams again. Just making the playoffs at this point would be a step in the right direction. Panther need to get a pass rush and they'll be a thret next year. I'd like to see us make a play for Trey Hendrickson. We need to go heavy defense in the draft this year. I like the direction the offense is going.

I'd like to see the Rams and Eagles face off in the first round so at least one of those teams is eliminated. Both Hurts and Stafford have Super Bowls and it would be nice to see someone else hoist that trophy up.

I was rather surprised to see that none of the games today are televised on the major broadcast channels in my area and are only available on NFL +. Man, I have every streaming service under the sun and still can't watch football. LOL. They aren't roping me into buying something else. No biggie as I have to work this afternoon anyway.

Sometimes NFL execs/owners really piss me off. Not a big deal to me, but it's getting so you have to buy this, that, and the other thing so these freaking owners can gouge you for more money. Grrrrr....

Just found out it's on Netflix....which I have, but this still seems wrong....

I'm having the honor of listening to Jerry Jones tell us all about his love of the Cowboys fans (ie their money). Man, I dislike that guy....

Arrowhead has historically been one of the biggest homefield advantages. The place is designed to be freaking loud. And Kansas City gets crazy cold in January. So the Chiefs now decide to erase all of those advantages.

Makes great sense.

By the way, tonight my son made a really astute observation.

Bo Nix looks just like Kyle Reese.

Chargers had plenty of opportunities to get more points, and Dicker having an off night cost them dearly, but the game ending on a soft illegal contact call that is so awful. Officiating deciding a game like that is ridiculous.
