Avengers: Secret Wars General News & Discussion Thread

Releasing the teaser the same day that WB releases the Supergirl trailer is not a good idea. It's not 2016 anymore. DC is more popular than Marvel currently. I'm afraid the Doomsday trailer will get buried in Supergirl hype.

I completely disagree. This isn't Brave New World, First Steps, or Quantumania. Avengers is still Avengers, and the casting lineup alone is going to draw audiences. Superman may have outgrossed the MCU films this year, barely, but that's not saying much when even that film couldn't outgross its predecessor. On the whole, no, DC is not more popular than Marvel. Even Superman's reception and goodwill don't undo the years of damage that WB did to the brand, and Peacemaker Season 2 certainly didn't do the DCU's future any favors with how that finale was received. A few missteps or underperforming films by Marvel Studios isn't going to suddenly turn people off of a new Avengers film.

There's a reason, for example, that the Avengers films do so much better than other films in their phases. More people show up to them even if they haven't seen the films leading up to them. If anything, I'd argue it's the other way around. Supergirl has more of an uphill battle, not to mention less people know who Milly Alcock is compared to Doomsday's Roster.

While I don’t think the Doomsday trailer will drop this week, more than likely it will be next week, there’s no universe where a Supergirl trailer does better than Avengers Doomsday trailer or overshadows it.

That said, I still think the Supergirl trailer will do really well. Her trailer views in the first 24 hours could land anywhere between Superman and Fantastic Four First Steps.

Supergirl is not more popular than Avengers, lets be real here.

Superman didn't even come close to what Deadpool & Wolverine earned last year.

Yeah...this is not a dig at Supergirl, but I simply don't believe that a Supergirl movie hype could outlive the hype for an Avengers movie, let alone it will be the first Avengers movie in 7 years.

For the geeks community, maybe...but for mainstream audience? Not a chance. The Avengers will be bigger. (In terms of hype and BO performance)

Yeah, I'm seriously down on the MCU's future, but Supergirl reads to me like another hyped-up project that will be a decent sized hit at the most. It will be popular in certain circles, but the GA won't be nearly as invested. See Wicked franchise.

Avengers will fall short of the previous entries for sure, but it should do a billion in its sleep even if it's terrible.

They need to conclude that White Vision story arc. Its been years since WandaVision.

I just cannot see the geeks community talking more about Supergirl than Avengers, when Avengers have the X-Men, Captain America, Thor, a bunch of big cameos that would only be confirmed when the movie is finally released.

I honestly don't care which geeks prefer. I am not interested in thr DC vs Marvel fanboy thing

Can't say I disagree with you.

The Supergirl teaser trailer was pretty underwhelming considering the comic they are basing the movie off was actually visually stunning. Hopefully the 2nd trailer gives us more. Maybe I am an outsider but I am loving the Street Fighter preview more, haha. at least I'm certain it will gives us a fully campy guilty pleasure fun😁

And I don't mean to put this onto a Marvel vs DC (I love both, btw!), but eventhough the MCU is in a terrible spot right now and DC is cooking lately...there’s no way a Supergirl movie could be matching Doomsday in hype or box office. Marvel’s going all-out with Doomsday & Secret Wars, and it’s loaded with a lot of stuff fans are gonna lose their minds over. Even if the quality was worse from the previous entries, Doomsday could easily be a $2B movie. (RDJ and the OG X-Men coming back will make sure of that)

"Daredevil" technically hasn't appeared in any MCU films to be making a return. So it would be his first film appearance with the costume on.
