🏎️ Formula One

Bottas deserved this victory for sure, but I can understand why Mercedes did it. Sucks for the show, but from the team's point of view, it made total sense.
I kind of wish they had made F1 a team sport so it wouldn't matter so much about this kind of thing. Then the drivers would be on the same side whatever happens. Could be good with 3 cars per team :funny:, although I guess that would be too expensive.

Anything is possible, but let's be honest, it's a long shot now! Hard to believe that Seb will win even 4 of the next 6 races, let alone all! Mercedes is not slow by any means we know what kind of driver Lewis is also.

BTW, what is your favorite circuit Iceman?
Sorry, missed this mate.

Looking even further away now! Even a DNF from Lewis wouldn't make it look a whole lot more likely given the form of the 2 drivers (and teams).

I'm not the biggest expert on tracks. I like the home track of course, Silverstone, and even though it doesn't lend itself to the best races due to being so hard to overtake, Monaco (just love the look of it). Otherwise I like tracks with at least one very long straight and otherwise as much complexity as possible. ;)

The fact that it's hard to overtake is also due the aero of the cars, which will be simplified next year, in order to allow overtaking.

A DNF for Mercedes seems highly unlikely at this moment, let alone two. And Lewis hardly makes crucial errors, if he does at all these days! Sucks for the championship and for me as a Ferrari fan haha!

Oh, good to know that it will change from next year.

The title race seems over now. Is this Lewis’ 5th?

Yeah, it would be his 5th Title! First was with McLaren, back in 2008. The other 3 were won with Mercedes in 2014, 2015 and 2017.

Just looked up the stats and that would put him ahead of Vettel and Prost, level with Fangio in joint 2nd, and only 2 off Schumacher!

He'll go down in history as one of the best! Anyway, rain prediction for this weekend! Tomorrow and Saturday at least! Sunday might be dry.

With 5 races left and a gap of 50 points, it would finish level on points if Hamilton finished 3rd in every race and Vettel won them all (15 points per race vs 25 points).

Yeah, for sure. A bit of rain mixed with dry spells might keep the race interesting.

Looking forward to today's (tomorrow's) race. Ferrari mucked up again in qualifying. Hamilton 1, Bottas 2, Verstappen 3, Raikonnen 4, Vettel……….9! At this rate the title will be won in the next few races with the last couple to spare.

Vettel unnecessarily goes into Verstappen early on which makes the rest of the race a catch up from the back of the race. Hamilton wins an easy race with Bottas and Verstappen behind him. Ricciardo does well well to finish 4th from 15th. Vettel finishes 6th behind Raikonnen. The gap in the title race is now 67 points. As Hamilton has more wins, Vettel needs to make up 18 points on Hamilton in the next 2 races or the title race will be over with 2 races to spare.

Vettel is just making too many mistakes. It would take a miracle for him to win this now.

Even that might not be enough lol. Hamilton could actually win the title in the next race if he wins by 8 points. So winning the race and Vettel coming 2nd would be enough, which isn't much of a stretch. Then his lead would go to 75 points with 3 races left and he would win on account of having more victories even if there was a 75 point turnaround.

Impossible. As a Vettel and Ferrari fan, I have no problem agreeing that he simply f***ed up. And the team shares some of the blame with their stupid strategy! They should have fired Jock Clear.

PS: Vettel lost around 125 points due to his small, but costly errors! Unbelievable!

That's just crazy.

Well, it's been raining down here in south Texas for weeks now, gonna guess we're getting plenty of wet running this weekend.

Vettel gets himself a 3-place grid penalty for the US grand prix. He's just handing the title to Lewis with all these mistakes as well as the ones made by his team. If Lewis wins by 8 points he wins the title in this race.

Lewis is starting to make a habit of winning the title at COTA. Here's hoping next year someone else can put up a season-long challenge.

No words really... another penalty added to his name certainly doesn't help.

I'm hoping for an exciting race at least. It's a shame that we most likely won't get a wet race.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm expecting it to be a procession with this grid penalty and Vettel's form and Ferrari's recent record. Hopefully they turn it around for next season.

If not Vettel and Ferrari then who? They've really got to step up their game and get some long term consistency. I mean he's a 4 time championship winner, he has the experience.
