I just realized today is my 10 year anniversary on Hype. I was the tender age of 18 going on 19 (my B-day is on the 24th) and after months of lurking I decided to sign up to defend the Spider-Man film from the individuals who did not share my enthusiasm for it and to just generally talk about how much I loved it. At the time I was also a huge M.Night fan so I SEE SPIDEY is the name I came up with. I don't know if I would have picked such a gender neutral name if I could go back in time because I'm tired of everyone assuming that I'm a dude but whatever.

I've chatted and if I'm being completely honest shamelessly flirted with many a poster on here. I've clashed with and befriended quite a few people on here as well. I've tried to quit this place many times but I just keep coming back for more. It's a mystery actually.

When I first came here Sam Raimi and Bryan Singer were the king directors of comicbook films and during the rise of Nolan and Whedon of course. I've seen how fickle and fleeting fanboy love can be so I now look out for the fall from grace even before the ascension. I was a terrible, terrible poster at first but I eventually became one worth while, at least I think I did. I'm still super passionate and sincere but in smarter ways...mostly, I'm not perfect.

I still suck at spelling but hooray for spellcheck and just being a little bit better at it. I'd say I've grown as a person and know myself better. Others differing opinions don't bother me as much as they use to. I'm still right but I can hear you out without pulling out my hair. :cwink:

I often hate this place but I adore it as well because I've talked to some super awesome folks. I may have signed up to talk about a film but I stayed to talk about films. My love of cinema grew over the years from talking about it with you guys, my insight into film grew because of the conversations and arguments I've had on here.

I've really do hate the knee jerk "hate or love" reaction fanboy crap at this point and the uber crazy Nolan fanboys but I love this place overall. I've enjoyed these ten years of craziness and here's to ten more.

Are there any other oldbies or posters who have been on here for 4 or 5 years feeling as reflective and nostalgic as I am?
EDIT: And I just realized that I mispelled "frustrations." So yeah I still suck at spelling.

You are one of the earliest people I remember when I joined here, ISS. My username was originally Ock back then. I remember you ripping into some troll on the Spider-Man 2 forum over something. I can't remember what it was about, but you didn't pull the punches.

Those were the days. I miss them. Simpler times.

I'm coming up on my ten years in November. It's crazy to think about. I'm 26 years old, so I've spent nearly half of my life on these boards

Well, I may not have been here for 4 or 5 years but occasionally I get nostalgic and resurrect an old thread just for the fun of it. (I still prefer the original title of the Guestion thread.)

There are a lot of posters whom I miss from "back in the day"... but there are a lot of new posters that I can tease to make up for it.

I remember back in 2005 I joined to BATMAN BEGINS, and well the rest was history. I just got hooked.

Congratulations on the big anniversay, ISS! :yay:

After Batman Begins, I became obsessed with following every scrap of news about the sequel. I joined Batman-on-film to keep up better and discuss it, and that led me here.

What I enjoy about you is your honesty and most of the time, I tend to agree with you*. I think there's times when people are overly diplomatic, holding back on what they truly feel... or they're too scared of getting flamed, etc. But you on the other hand, just say stuff that's on your mind without being confrontational, and it's a rare thing to see here.

*Except for your take on 'Drive'. :p

I assumed you were actually gay as your name is gender neutral, you have a guy as your avatar and it says below "in supermans arms". I always read your posts in a dude's voice lol.

Aww thanks for the kind words. I worked hard on trying to be that way Octoberist, I don't always succeed but I'm getting better.

It's okay RedBlueWonder a lot of people have said what you said. I've been checking for over 20 years and I'm still a female. lol

On that note:

I have posted on a Gay thread on here before because I had stuff to say obviously. Our sweet Jane Levy loving Rodrigo90 is under impression that I'm a Bi chick or something and I'm not going to confirm or deny that because why should I confirm or deny something like that?

I'm not trying to be coy, I'm literally saying that I have addressed the issue and if you look at my previous posts you will know what I am in that regard.

I just decided a while ago that I find it odd when people have to add "no homo" (I hate that phrase) everytime they say someone of the same gender is goodlooking or constantly add "I'm straight." I'm secure enough to not care about what you think my sexuality is one way or the other. I also think it's dumb when women pretend to be interested in other women solely for attention.

Of course if I'm directly asked, I will answer the question because why not? But I'm not going to correct any assumptions because I don't care.

I've been wanting to write this post for a while so thanks for giving me an in.

I have talked to a few posters here that are female and they hate being assumed male, it's a common problem ahaha!
I agree, sexuality is a private thing and is no ones bussiness. You should never judge someone on sexuality as at the end of the day it is the intentions of the person's heart that matter.

I don't "hate" it anymore but I certainly do not like it. But nobody can see me and my name tells one nothing so I completely understand the assumption. It makes perfect sense because most posters are male.

I cannot stand the phrase "no homo" either. Cannot. Stand. It.

I'm not sure it would be particularly better to have Male/Female under your bio information either though. hmm...

Anyway, congrats. Of course I havent been around long. Idk if we have any stories of comradery yet. Here's to the next ten years!

Hit the ten year mark back in July. Signed up right around Comic Con's Spider-Man 2 coverage.

Seeing as how I rarely venture into the Community Board, I doubt a single **** was given :csad:.

Just realized I've been on this site 11 years when July hit. Wow. Excellent post ISS

I've been here for close to seven years, but only posting a lot (and outside the Spidey boards) for the last three or so.

I have one board I've been posting on and off for the last sixteen years or so (the Spidey board on comicboards), but it's really kind of dead now.

My how time flies! I actually joined in 2007, but lurked here LONG before that. It's funny, because I was a big supporter of Superman Returns. I even went as far as to sign up under the name RouthIsSuperman! I know what you are all thinking/doing..... I know I know. I don't regret it one bit though. For the most part, I really do enjoy coming here. I admit that I really didn't care for ISS at first, BUT she has grown on me and I really do enjoy her posts. So with that said, congrats ISS!
