2 teens charged with Gatlinburg inferno

I have a friend who used to live there but moved a few years ago. So surprising this is what it comes down to, two stupid teenagers.

I used to vacation there. Hard to believe its burned up. Dumb teens, drought, and fire dont mix well.

it's kind of scary to think that two stupid kids can do ISIS-level damage w/o a plan, funding, or direction.

Man, that's really unfortunate to hear. I had assumed it happened primarily due to lack of rain. I'm a Nashville native and I've been going to Gatlinburg for years. Beautiful mountain country now largely ravaged. People dead, homes destroyed. Hope these guys understand fully how much damage they've done.

How do they prove arson?
They certainly aren't going to admit their intent. Won't they just say it was an accident -- a discarded match or cigarette.

You can still do jail time for negligence.

Wildfires are usually started by negligence or lightning. The fire in Fort McMurray in Alberta was likely started by a cigarette. When the conditions are right, you don't need much for a fire to grow out of control. It doesn't take genius level intellect.

And ISIS level damage means nothing. ISIS is just as stupid, if not more cowardly.
