The ebay listing says that they'd forward you the email with the barcode. Apparently (hopefully!) they checked with the registration dept, and apparently you can transfer your registration to someone else if you have a barcode. In fact, the registration confirmation email says that if your barcode was used earlier that day, you can't get a badge. I have no idea if they check ID - I don't remember what they did for Wizard World LA.

Okay, I just asked my friend who went last year and remembers what the heck they did.
They do check ID's at registration, but once you get your badge, you can hand it off to anyone you want.
because the friend who was gonna drive down with me can't make it. Her family's longtime dog is going into surgery on Thursday, so...yeah. She can't sell her barcode since she has to be there for registration. She's hoping to get a refund from SDCC...I think that would be more probable once the event is over and it's clear that her barcode was never scanned into the system....
