2013 Rock Hall of Fame Inductees!

The thing is though, if they don't allow Hip Hop than they can't allow any other genre either. That means no Johnny Cash, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince etc..

Exactly! And no one would argue that pop acts like Madonna, ABBA or any of the 50s/60s girl groups don't deserve any recognition for their contributions to popular music and the culture at large.

R&RHOF is about including and celebrating ALL of the movers and shakers in music who made a tremendous, lasting impact. Specific genre shouldn't matter that much.

What I don't understand is that in appeasing people's complaints about the thing (which admittedly said complaints ARE somewhat pointless, but anyway) they could actually make WAY more money. If the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame expanded and had a Hip-Hop Hall of Fame, a Pop Hall of Fame, etc. they could put on multiple performances per year, have multiple ceremonies, and they and HBO could make way more money.
