2014 Global Ebola Outbreak

That's always been true though and always will be so long as people are allowed to freely come and go from dangerous locations without any sort of quarantine or restriction on movement.

At least with medical and aide workers they know the dangers and are more alert to preventing spreading a disease unlike some random person who thinks a good rinse of water and some soap will do the trick.

And the first European country to be hit is Spain.

Spain has outbreak's 1st known case of contracting Ebola outside of Africa

A nurse's assistant in Spain is the first person known to have contracted Ebola outside of Africa in the current outbreak.

Spanish Health Minister Ana Mato announced Monday that a test confirmed the assistant has the virus.

The woman had helped treat a Spanish missionary and a Spanish priest, both of whom had contracted Ebola in West Africa.

Both died after returning to Spain.

Health officials said she developed symptoms on September 30. She was hospitalized Sunday.

An investigation is under way to find everyone she may have had contact with while contagious. So far, there are no other known cases.

She was one of about 30 health professionals in Spain who helped to treat the Ebola patients.

I remember the Spanish missionary who while working in West Africa contracted Ebola died back in early August. - http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28754899

How is this just coming about now that a nurse caring for him was infected?
How long is the "incubation"(is that the right term?) period for this???

What's the incubation period for this ebola strain?

If it's longer than a week then alot of people could be spreading it without knowing.

It's generally thought of as 3 weeks.

Just approved vacation time for one of my security officers for next week, her boyfriend is coming to visit from West Africa.

I will miss all of you.

and now he's dead.

How are these people catching it? Ebola is a fairly difficult disease to catch due to it requiring a fluid exchange or by physically touching the person who was already infected.

The article says the Dallas patient Duncan helped a convulsing and vomiting pregnant woman get to an Ebola treatment facility in West Africa, where she was turned away and later died at home.

When asked at the airport if he'd had contact with anyone with Ebola, he said no.

So...security at the airport just takes people at their word? That's scary for you guys seeing as this guy blatantly lied and is now dead and probably infected others.

So...stupidity then.

Not stupidity.

He lied because he had a plane to catch.

It's the same with any disease, of course they're always gonna say no regarding "have you had sex with anyone such and such, etc."

All that sarcasm earlier in the thread seems moot now.

lol, it only takes one.
