Complete List of Nominees

What's everyone's thoughts on the nominees? I gotta say, in my eyes, the snub of the year is a toss up between Zach Woods and Matt Ross of Silicon Valley. Jared has been the highlight of every episode and Ross plays Gavin's oblivious *****ebaggery to perfection. I am shocked Ty Burrell is still getting nominated while the other male cast members of Veep, Woods, and Ross (as well as TJ Miller) are getting snubbed.

With The Americans finally getting some recognition this might be the 1st time in a while that Ive been happy with the majority of the nominations,Ive heard great things bout The Leftovers so Im kinda surprised to see it get snubbed as well

Glad to see Orphan Black get a nomination again and love for the main performances of The People vs. OJ Simpson. Would like to have seen Eva Green get some love for Penny Dreadful, especially now that the show has ended.

Hannibal... gets 1 nom. Lol.

I just can't with these people.

Unless it didn't meet the eligibility requirements, I can't believe Person of Interest couldn't get a nomination for Emerson or Acker.

Person of Interest's own network barely acknowledged it's existence this past season. You really expect the Emmys to do any differently?

There's just too much great TV out there to possibly garner all of it with worthy awards attention. That being said, the Emmy's have a history of weird, redundant choices. One of the worst of the big award ceremonies, actually.

No the worst goes to the Golden Globes

I just hope they recognize Maslany's hard work. Though I do admit, that is a competitive category.

the ONLY one I give a **** about is Tati Maslany for lead dramatic actress... with the final season of Orphan Black coming up, the recognition for her is LONG overdue...

Hannibal was so pretentious that even an entertainment award ceremony (which is the epitome of pretension) does not want to recognize it. :oldrazz:

I am still pissed off about Silicon Valley's criminally underrated supporting cast getting no love (especially when Ty Burrell did). Silicon Valley rivals Veep for the best ensemble on TV. Zach Woods, in particular, brought his A-game this season and is a big part of the reason it got a best comedy nod, IMO. Same with TJ Miller. That said, I love seeing Thomas Middleditch get the nod for best actor in a comedy series. I am sure that Jeffrey Tambor (or maybe William Macy) will win the award. But I would love to see those two take votes away from one another and Middleditch ultimately win. It would be well deserved. He is fantastic.

I would actually love to see Silicon Valley win Best Comedy this year. I mean, you gotta think Veep has it locked down and its hard to argue against that. Veep just had its best season and was the best show on TV this year, period (comedy or drama). But at the same time, its hard to root against Silicon Valley. Like the characters on the show, it is this plucky underdog. I'd like to see it step out of the shadows of Veep and get some mainstream appreciation.

Its by design. The Modern Family cast does the same thing. Every cast member submits themselves as "supporting actors" as a sign of solidarity, to show that no one cast member is more important than the others.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, I am a bit disappointed to see both Kit Harrington and Peter Dinklage get nods. Nothing against Dinklage, he is fantastic. But I think he is on the list by the merit of past performances as this season really did not give Tyrion much to do. He was relegated to sitting in a room, cracking jokes and drinking wine, most episodes. He did well with what he had, but there really wasn't a lot.

As for Harrington, he was good, but not great. The best acting job he did this year was pretending Jon Snow was actually dead. Otherwise, his role this season was pretty standard angst.

On the other hand, where's the love for Liam Cunningham? Davos had his best season yet and Cunningham was often the strongest aspect of the North's storyline. If anyone deserved a nod, it is was him.

Aya Cash was robbed for her work on this season of You're the Worst. Perhaps another strong season critically will get her name as well as the show into more Emmy conversations. It took The Americans a while to get going, so hopefully with time FX will be able to bring voters to their side.

I do agree that Dinklage did nothing this past season. Surprised and not surprised that Sophie wasn't nominated. Surprised because Thrones is so popular, but also not because I personally don't think her acting was all that, even though Sansa as a character was much better this season.

Justin Theroux, Regina King and Carrie Coon should've been recognized for their respective work on The Leftovers, but both of their categories are very competitive and The Leftovers isn't necessarily the most viewed thing on HBO so I can understand. Hopefully the final season will get more recognition for this very unique show.
