Some real Sodium Chloride coming out of that game. I mean, I've been sick of the Patriots for years, but yeesh.

Back to back!!!!

3 Super Bowl Championships in 4 years in 2000s

First against the Rams then 2 years later vs. Panthers and their 3rd vs. Eagles

Then 3 Super Bowl Championships in 4 years in 2010s

First against the Seahawks then 2 years later vs. Falcons and their 3rd vs. Eagles (Again)

History keeps repeating itself!!

I'm torn on this game. I like both teams and would like to see Brady get two more rings... this year and next. But then I also am a huge fan of underdogs and would like to see the Eagles pull off the upset. I'll probably be cheering either way and be happy no matter how it ends.

I'm probably going to be rooting for the Patriots because I know it'll destroy a friend of mine if they win (we're cool like that :D) and that overall my disdain for the Steelers outweighs my love of underdogs, but overall I'm happy either way.

What's interesting about that is that in 2001 they played an NFC West team(Rams), then an NFC South team(Panthers) and then an NFC East team(Eagles). This time around it's basically the same but with different teams. (Seahawks, Falcons and Eagles).

Their Super Bowl win against the Eagles saw the end of Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel. This time around it's the end of McDaniels and Patricia.

Super Bowl 39 was played in Jacksonville(lost against New England).
Super Bowl 52 will be played in Minnesota(lost against Philadelphia).

The Super Bowl in between 36 and 38 saw the Buccaneers(NFC South) against the Raiders(AFC West)
The Super Bowl in between 49 and 51 saw the Panthers(NFC South) against the Broncos (AFC West)

Crazy how things work sometimes.

I am just about done with football. Brady being called the best is a flat out joke. Guy wins because of luck and being ballied out by the refs. I don't care if he has 5 championships he would only have 2 if not for the refs and if not for the refs yesterday he wouldn't be back in the superbowl again. What a joke. That PI towards the end of the first half was a joke of a call and New England got away with like 2-3 PI. Brady has came up small a lot of times in the clutch but yet he is clutch what a joke just gets ballied out. Give Favre, Peyton, Bress, Marino this kind of bs to help them and they each have like 9 superbowl wins. I watch a lot of sports and the amount of favorable calls that new England gets is unlike any thing you have ever seen in any sport ever. Like 30% of the time Pats win a game no matter if it is regular season or playoffs its because of the refs. Cant wait for Brady to retire then maybe people will shut up and stop overrating the guy and maybe refs will stop helping that team all the time and football can go back to being good again. Heck just this year along they have won like 4 games because of the refs.

You don't make it to the Super Bowl half your career (literally) due to some bad ref calls. I know it's the cool thing to hate on Brady, but give respect where respect's due. He is without doubt the best QB to ever play the game. And I'm not even a Patriots fan.

The NFL refs do need to do a better job at calling some of these games. I don't complain about the refs too much because calls go against both teams. I thought the Patriots/Jaguars game was very well officiated. No complaints here.

The play clock incident on Sunday in the Jags/Patriots game kinda got on my nerves though.Yes, it was the correct call by throwing the flag, but I don't know how many times I've seen teams take it to 0 and no flag has been thrown.

My second gripe is about holding calls and pass interference calls. These are VERY tough for refs to call sometimes because some can become judgement calls or they're flat out missed entirely. I liked someone's idea of having a referee watching from the booth the game and are able to call holding/pass interference. I know some probably won't agree with that, but I think it could go along way to making the game more consistent.

My final complaint is the call to New York? Who's making the decisions? Is it one person? If it is then it should be more like 3 people. I don't know how many times this year I heard the former refs from the networks booth say they disagreed with New York. The inconsistencies is what really irritates me about the league.

Brady has shown time and again that he's one of the best in the game. Blaming the refs for New England's success is just baseless fan saltiness.

Exactly, why would the NFL continually want the same team to get to the Super Bowl, especially when said team took the league itself to court and was part of the great deflate-gate drama? The Patriots make it where they do every year because they are the best team. The refs don't play double digit 4th qtr leads against them. Teams get intimidated when they start coming back and choke, and the Pats take advantage.

Brady is going to play in his 8th Super Bowl. Do you know how silly good you have to be to get to the Super Bowl even once? Let alone 8!

Agreed. It's because they're making sure golden boy brady is never dethroned as the greatest football/athlete ever. Luckily most don't care about him or his legacy because of the cheating. I don't even watch football, but see every time it's big controversial call it always goes patriots way.

Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and the Patriots are nothing short of sheer greatness and sustained dominance. Twenty years from now, we will be glad that we watched it live.

If you don't watch football, how do you know he and the Patriots get the call? People have such an irrational hatred for when people actually do well because of skill and preparation that they think some outside force is helping maintain that advantage.

I already am. For me, the Patriots are the most fun team to watch. I have seen great teams come and go, but to be this good for this long...simply remarkable. There is not a run like it.

:hmm

I give Brady credit for everything he's won.

If the coach and QB werren't such unbearable jackasses then I doubt I would hate them as much as I do. Even with them always beating my team. I wish CBS was doing the game this year so I could hear Romo instead of Collinsworth. Man, Collinsworth is annoying as hell. Maybe he can get together with his old QB, Boomer and get lessons on how not to be a smarmy tool, because Boomer is alright by me.

Its not that I cant respect greatness its that I have been watching sports a lot sinces has long has I can remember 28 years old and I have ever seen any teams in sports get the kind of bs calls over and over again to help them the way new England does. I have always been someone who defends sports and says they are not rid but when you watch new England and see the kind of calls they get it really makes you wonder. Brady would only have 2 championships not 5 if not for the refs and people where already calling him like the best ever after his first 2 championships when he only won his first 2 because of a great defensive team and a tuck rule in the first year. He was like a average QB back then and yet ever one was like already calling him the best after those first 2 its just a joke. It has nothing to do with my team sucking or being beat by new England has I am a packer fan so being that the packers are in the NFC its not like they have to get by new England to even get to the superbowl.

This so much this. I am so close to not watch football any more in till he is gone has the way the pats get a call all the time is a joke. The amount of favorable calls that new England gets in just 1 year is like the same amount that most teams get in like 5 years. Brady has had bad games lots of bad games in big games but gets bailed out so much so people think he is clutch. I know stats don't tell all but they do tell a lot and I remember like 3 years or so ago Peyton and Brady playoff stats like Passing yards per game, completion % TD etc where pretty close at the time yet Peyton was called a chocker and Brady clutch. Brady being the best QB ever and Peyton being a chocker may be the biggest myth in sports history.

I'm sorry, but this seems like excuses to me. You don't win this much unless you're actually talented. Say what you will about the refs, the refs did not cause the Jags to make the mistakes they did, didn't catch the ball in the back of the end zone, etc. People who whine about refs are just making excuses. That's my take. This is not like the fail marry call. The Jags still had a healthy lead in the game even with that TD, and further on that PI call, it was 1st and 10 when it happened with 90 secs to go. They were going to score anyway (I've seen enough Pats games to know that). It's not like it happened on a 3rd down in a close game with little time left. Bogus holding and PI calls happen EVERY GAME!

I watched ton of sports in my life, and all the good teams get the calls. Because they're good. When did the NBA ever call Jordan on a travel? I am still waiting, and he did it all the time. I can say that about any good team, but is that why the Jazz lost to the Bulls twice and why the Bulls won 6 titles? No, it is because they were the best team and everyone else wished they were them. Same here. The Patriots win and get all the calls because they're the best and don't make many mistakes. Period.

This is hilarious given the amount of favorable officiating the Packers get the benefit of when "discount double dork" Rodgers is playing.

Both these posts reek of sour grapes and Grade-A salt. Good teams and players sometimes get the benefit of certain calls but that doesn't really explain nearly 2 decades of constant winning. You have to take into consideration that Belichick's system and the front office's ability to continually replenish their talent as bigger factors to their success than getting a bunch of favorable calls.

Its not some times getting the calls its always getting the calls. A 50/50 call with New England is like a 90/10 call for them and the amount of crazy bad calls never go agest them but always go agest the team they are playing agest. You can call it what ever you want but it is true. If not for the refs Brady being called the best and having 5 championships would not even be a topic has people wouldn't belive this myth about him being the best and being so clutch and he would only have 2 championships.

Yeah, that is a bunch of garbage. But, you can go stop watching football in protest. I will keep watching and enjoy the Patriots greatness

Miscellaneous nonsensical sour grapes rant

Back in the 80's, when the 49ers were winning, my Dad would rant on about the "smiling referee" that would always penalize the opposing teams and make sure the 49ers won... Hahahahaha...

It made me laugh all the time back then because even as a teenager, I thought it was an idiotic thought.

Thanks for making me feel like a teen again hahahahahahahahaha.....

Have a tissue...

:yay:
