300 producers Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton, are producing Exclusive Media Group's new historical drama based on the early life of Julius Caesar, says Deadline.

The movie hopes to be the first in a trilogy based on Conn Iggulden's best-selling "Emperor" book series. William Broyles (Flags of Our Fathers) has written the script.

Nunnari and Canton are currently producing Immortals for Relativity Media.

Okay, this I could get behind. I they don't do it in the style of 300 then it's all good.

This could be potential David Lean or Spartacus kind of epic.

Man, I hope to God they get a good director.

This could be pretty cool. Looking forward to updates.

Another Caesar project? Meh.

Caesar is my favourite General so i'm super excited for this. i really enjoyed these books, however, they take huge liberties. for example, Caesar and Brutus grow up together because Julius' dad adopted him. so they are brothers who grow apart kind of like the wolverine movie. the story did have a great twist though in the first book as you don't realize the story is about Julius Caesar until about half way through, and you don't realize that his friend is actually Brutus until the last page.

do they really need 3 movies?.... i dont think they'll even get to the second one. lol

They need to start tackling the second tier historical figures... enough with the Robin Hoods, the Caesars, and Ghengis Khan's. William Wallace was a second tier guy and that worked out pretty well.

have their really been many movies about Caesar though? the best thing that i can think of is Rome but he was only in the first season

I hope they will have a gorgeous actress to play Cleopatra. :)

Caesar lived an epic life. I'd watch this.

300 producers? That seems like a lot...

Sorry, couldn't resist.

:rimshot:

ironically she was apparently pretty average looking. it was her intelligence that was attractive. if i remember correctly she was only in the 4th book though. oh and this series has TONS of action

Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down, 17 Again, upcoming Charlie St. Cloud) will direct Emperor: Young Caesar, the first in a trilogy of films to be based on Conn Iggulden's best-selling "Emperor" book series.

The first film will be based on the first two novels, "The Gates of Rome" and "The Field of Swords," in which Julius and Brutus are raised to become noble Roman soldiers.

300 producers Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton are producing Exclusive Media Group's new historical drama. William Broyles (Flags of Our Fathers) and Stephen Harrigan wrote the script.

Kind of odd choice for a director.

I'm all for it. I would've loved to see the Rome feature film plans come through.

"We're making an epic movie about Julius Caesar so we should get the guy who did 17 Again to totally direct this."

Oh well, lets see who they cast as Caesar...

I thought the current historical trend is that Brutus could have been Caesars illegitimate son? Now they are going to be training together?
