38 million hungry in the U.S. Bush hides report

The solution to helping those who cannot help themselves is to institutionalize them.

Many people are born into households that encourage laziness or crime. There's no reason perfectly good people who with a little help can make it on their own should instead be institutionalized. That's a chicken s*** approach, not to mention an irresponsible one.

When you have a problem, you face it and deal with it. You don't just sweep it under the rug and hope it goes away.

When I say institutionalization, I'm not defining it as one-size-fits-all solution.

They can still have the degree of freedom that they are capable of handling.

Well unless they're deemed mentally ill or they've committed a crime, they should enjoy the same freedoms that normal people do, ASIDE from the restrictions imposed upon them while they occupy government housing.

Then they don't need help from me, that taxpayer.

Hell, if I was poor and had no home or food everynight, I would commit a crime and go to the luxurious fed prisons and have me three square meals, television, a bed, workout equipment, and a lovely roommate named Big Earl.

No, you'd instead prefer to spend your hard earned money on taxes that go to programs that INDIRECTLY assist people, but don't really solve the problem.

I'd bet that if you provide people with the bare essentials, requiring them to WORK if they want more than that, the majority would work to better themselves, instead of just "existing" day to day.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't care who you are, there are certain things in life that *should* be guaranteed. You shouldn't have to make a decision between paying your mortgage, paying the doctor or buying your food. ALL are necessary for life, and if someone can't afford ALL of them, there should be some form of assistance that will act as a crutch until they're in a position to afford ALL of them.

Not all people come from households where the parents pay for the first car and college. Some people actually HAVE to earn it. All I'm suggesting is that we, as a nation, HELP each other to help ourselves instead of just turning a blind eye to those who were born under worse conditions than we were.

But God forbid if we actually help our fellow human beings out a little, right?

Also, on topic, all the poor need is a Bible. Look how well it's worked giving The Grace News Network the contracts to retool the television news networks in Iraq and Afghanistan (yeah, it's not a war on Islam :whatever: ). They're all millionaires now!

What the report doesnt tell you that it just means that we have 262 million well fed americans. Like always, this is just an attack from the Secular Progressives.

That's all well and good but unfortunately not many people give two *****s about the person living next door or anywhere else in the country. Apathy is wonderful isn't it?
