Engage!

I’m a little concerned that the last 15-20 minutes or so could follow the pattern of other series and seasons in slowly showing the characters being happy together while sentimental music plays after the plot wraps up. If there was plenty of time remaining in the season, I’d feel differently, but 9 episodes of build-up needs more than a half-episode of resolution.

Star Trek VI only needed 4 minutes for a brilliant end after 25 years of following these characters.

It’s not so much the amount but how they use it.

Another reminder what a big Trekkie Kevin Feige is. So much of Avengers: Endgame owes its inspiration as a cast farewell to Star Trek VI and All Good Things from the past, present, and future cross-time period adventure to the main cast's signatures scripting across the screen while the main theme plays at the start of the credits.

There's supposed to be a post credit scene, so I supposed most of the new series set up will be there. If I had to bet, the show will end with all of them at 10 Forward. 50/50 on them playing poker.

With Picard's Finale this week, I thought I do a #BaggersTop5 of things I think will be in the Finale (most of them are going to be things I WISH will be in the Finale btw!!!)

➡️

5) Jurati-Queen and her Collective will help out in some way.

4) Jack becoming the "Borg Prince" and beating the Borg Queen using logic and diplomacy in classic Picard fashion. Wesley Crusher will pop up at some point.

3) Mentions of Sisko (I'd defo be dreaming if I'm thinking Ben coming back in the Finale) and other DS9 Crew members.

2) Captain Shaw LIVES!!! (This one defo a wish, I know his arc ended in the most logical way being the unlucky one this time around, buying the TNG Crew time to get off the Titan. But I grown to like and appreciate Shaw and it be a crime not having more of him, so this one the longest shot in the bunch).

Honourable Mentions:

Leaving the Changelings plot open ended which could be continued in Star Trek: Legacy. The idea that by the end of the Season The Borg could be defeated and the plot to take out Starfleet is stopped but the issue of Changelings still out there would still be a real problem (I don't see all of the threads in Picard going to be tied up by end of Finale).

Wesley Crusher will pop up at some point.

1) O'Brien will use his Transporter Chief skills to unassimilated the Starfleet Crews.

I disagree with Beverly thinking every system will fall if Earth does. There are a lot of planets in the Federation. It is not ideal if they lose Earth, but not hopeless.

Anton Chekov is a nice tribute.

Shaw being nice to Seven in secret is even more suspicious than being openly nice. I can imagine the changelings wanting Starfleet to promote its disruptive officers. And, of course, the show was loud and clear about the replaced officers being kept alive.

When billions of lives are at immediate stake, that’s not a time for long seconds of soul-searching.

At a red sun, a super-powerful man wearing a red cape.

Seven’s “Go” command has to be ”Comply”.

This is just a rant, feel free to ignore it.

Chekov’s son is President of The Federation, and I did catch his name Anton. Which I guess is to remember the actor who played him in the reboot movies.

They brought back the borg just to change them again. Picard is stuck in borg purgatory. I don’t like the borg cube treated like a death star. Also how nimble the Enterprise D was, it’s not a shuttle. I would’ve liked to hear Geordi mention he was monitoring the warp core, or something in engineering.

I thought it was odd Beverly thought all the sectors fall without Earth. There are planets with their own fleets, and The Federation is more than just Earth.

All those Starfleet ships and none of them had any torpedoes to fire at the station. That means all those ships were out in sector space armed only with phasers. This story fell apart in the end. They wrapped it up very quickly after the reveal and probably could’ve made this series in five or six episodes. The changelings sort of just fell out of sight after the borg reveal. The clicking between changelings and their hiding themselves in mask and robes were left unexplored. The communication used by Vadic was forgotten. Even though the showrunner had to mention it online since he failed to put the scene in the show.

Bringing Q back was good, maybe now he can undo all this nonsense.

I mentioned this a couple days ago that Chief O'brien came up with rewriting altered DNA in the transporter to cure Pulaski of her disease in season 2. So it was his concept that Beverly must have used to expand upon to make it fleet wide. How about some credit to O’brien.

I don’t like that Jack was rushed through Starfleet Academy, that explains his lack of discipline on the bridge. Starfleet used to be a meritocracy.

I wouldn’t watch this Picard series again upon doing Star Trek rewatches. I just don’t care about the borg to sit through 3 seasons or borg stories. I also wouldn’t want to watch the Enterprise G if Raffi and Jack are aboard.

The only good parts were seeing the TNG crew together, I can’t stand the rest of the characters. They just don’t fit.

I love how the D showed up over the crew and zapped em out of harms way it just shows how BIG that ship is even tho it appears SO tiny compared to the cube

Perfect season and series finale.

That was some sloppy, dumb fun. The performances and chemistry of the TNG cast were on fire and it was great to see the old cast having so much fun.

However, I'm really not a fan of the Titan becoming the Enterprise-G. The Federation flagship ought to be cutting edge top of the line. Not some 20 year old ship refitted into a legacy Constitution design that evokes century old ships. I wish we got something that continues on and evolves the design styles of the Galaxy and Sovereign classes. If they were going to use a vintage inspired design, something like the Ross class would have been my preference to pay homage to the D and Galaxy-class.

I honestly thought the reveal would be: USS Picard. But maybe you gotta be dead before they name a ship after you.

I thought the same thing too Dr I thought it was gonna be the USS PICARD as well

Technically Picard is dead so they could name it after him, but I thought it was a bad choice to use the old titan.

Yeah, the name seems an odd choice when the Federation even has a holiday commemorating the launch of the NX-01 Enterprise.

Although I think they ought to have kept the Titan name, the idea behind this setup for a new series might come from Star Trek: Final Frontier, an animated series proposed about 20 years ago. That series' Enterprise would have been an old ship with a crew who were not among Starfleet's current favourites.

Good finale. I was certain that they were going to make the Neo Constitution class the Enterprise G, just did not expect them to make the Titan it.

Really enjoyed the Borg Queen going full Giger. It was nice to see that the Borg didn't just keep on after the destruction of Unimatrix 01.

Its great to see the full crew together again, and the final scene was just great.

I am full on for a Capt Seven series. I am sad we didn't get Mulgrew as a cameo, but Tuvok will suffice.

The Q appearance was fun. Kind of surprised it wasn't Q Jr, but oh well. And if there is one person I trust to keep timeline continuity in mind, its Matalas.

Why are you promoting this piece of ****? I don't ****ing care what his history his, its clear he is part of the right wing grifting brigade. So **** him. Post your own damn reactions, and not try to use some sort of authority to back up your own opinions. Especially one who should not be paid attention to.

Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 10: “The Last Generation"

Before I get started here is your second Spoiler Alert warming!!!

Kudos to Terry Matalas and everyone else involved, this Season of Picard has been serious fanfare and I was all here for it. With so much new Trek it feels like I've lost a connection I have for it, I'm old so TNG/DS9/Voyager was the golden era for me. But this Season and Strange New Worlds definitely got my attention!!!

Seeing Enterprise D warping and flying around again makes my heart so happy and hearing the nice cameo of Walter Koenig as President Anton Chekov was a nice touch (RIP Anton Yelchin).

That Borg Cube was mahoosive, seeing how small the D was compared to it made me feel all hope was lost...when they said at 30 odd % power I felt a bit more optimistic.

Worf "threesome" quote was gold!!!

When they got on The Cube Janeway's neurolytic pathogen really did a number on The Borg and The Queen itself looked very H.R. Giger nightmare fuel.

Data's gut feeling and childlike joy while going all Return of the Jedi "Death Star" run was fun. It's so weird seeing Data smile so much but glad he finally got what he wanted being human (even having therapy, that's when you know you're truly human lol).

Jack rocking the retro Locutus look was great callback, and seeing Jack and Picard father and son moment was lovely. Also mentioning Season 1 was nice to complete circle everything. Picard finally getting closure on the whole Borg situation was great to see.

Seven taking back the Titan show us the Captain she can be, rallying the new makeshift Crew up to buy Picard and TNG Crew some time, just shows her skills at being a Captain and how she has learnt speech monologues from the man himself!!!

They had me when Worf was being shot, I thought all Season Worf was going to die in a "hero moment" but so glad I was wrong, even tho Worf through out the scene was talking about dying honourably. Through out this Finale they had me multiple times thinking Picard, Worf or Riker we're gonna die, but when Troi picked up Riker's "love" the fear subsided and seeing the D hovering over them before beaming them up was marvellous!!!

Can we hear it for Bev firing phasers and torpedos like a pro (guess 20 Years can change someone).

The Borg Queen screaming her classic First Contact "nooo" before dying took me back and hearing her say "your future's end" earlier in the episode got me all nostalgic. If this truly the end of The Borg I'm happy, as much as I love them, they been overplayed for so long, that it's time to finally keep them gone. Time for a new threat to pop up maybe in Star Trek: Legacy?!

Worf falling asleep on the chair was funny when he started snoring, a moment before I thought they killed him off, but then the snoring started and all was well. Old Worf been a hoot this Season!!!

Riker's Captain Log seeing the Enterprise D and Titan A flying together gave me Undiscovered Country vibes, which my Childhood version of me appreciated.

Good to see the "real" Tuvok and holographic Shaw saying nice things about 7 was heartfelt but then made me think could that have been a Changeling? Of course not...could it?! Maybe the Dip**** was just being nice??

Starfleet Rule 101 if you steal a Ship and disobey orders you sure better save the Day cause if not no pardon and promotion for you (I learnt that from Kirk, well his was a demotion but same diff).

Worf MVP status this Season keeps going with him finally having some respect put on Raffi's name.

Jack being in Starfleet as a fast tracked Ensign he’ll be beating poor forever Ensign Kim in no time!!!

The Titan rechristened as the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-G makes sense, as if your having Star Trek: Legacy as the new Show (even Jack spelt it out before 7 said her "thing" being saved for Legacy most likely) you need more than characters of Legacies (7 of 9, Jack and Sidney) but a Ship of it too. USS Picard would of had a nice ring too it, but guess this Season not just about Picard anymore but the TNG Crew and the journeys that started with the NX-01!!!

This the tagline of Legacy if I've ever seen/heard one: "I still can't believe Starfleet saw fit to give a thief, a pirate and a spy their own ship. Bunch of ne'er-do-wells and rule-breakers, really. What could possibly go wrong?"

The only way you could end Season 3 of Picard and the Series in general but with a Poker Game. Will I ever hear Data tell the end of that joke lol.

As they say all Good Things must come to an end...but then an after credit surprise: Q alive and well and ready to put Jack and this Next, Next Generation on trial...Star Trek: Legacy "you had my curiosity, now you have my attention."

Wonder if Picard met up with Laris, hope she's not still patiently waiting for him.

Only thing i'm upset about is no O'Brien cameo!!!

So Season 3 is officially the best TNG movie. Finally a proper sendoff for the crew, and up there with Star Trek VI as a perfect close. Emotional, fun, the best acting probably in any Trek series.

I truly think this will be the last time we see Patrick Stewart playing Picard and he couldn’t have gone out better, and truly wiped away the stink of Nemesis and the first two seasons.

He's really not.

They literally brought the Enterprise-F into canon just to replace it (with an older ship) before it actually got to do anything cool, it's a shame because the F is more or less what you described, a melding of the D and E, even has saucer separation, complete waste of the Odyssey class. Other than that I really enjoyed the finale, making the Borg threat more of a personal vendetta with the Queen made me feel a lot better about using the Borg again so soon. Really excited to see Seven become a captain as well, one of my favorite Trek characters and has had such a great arc to get to this point.

Star Trek: The Last Generation should've been the title of the final TNG feature film. This was it.

Except for Seven of Nine and Raffi Musiker, the rest of the other Picard cast were forgotten.
