Florida Senator Bill Nelson said the shooter was identified as 26-year-old Esteban Santiago. Nelson said a TSA administrator and director of the airport told him that the shooter was carrying a military I.D. with that name. ABC News confirmed the suspect's name with law enforcement sources.

But, of course, no one can do **** about someone with a mental illness unless/until they threaten themselves or someone else. So it's a wait-and-see how-many-people-die scenario and then something can be done.

Mental illness is what the media leaked so it wouldn't look as bad. No mental illness allows me to go shoot up an airport. He was fully aware and I'm sure he had planned this for awhile. You just don't wake up 1 day and say to yourself shooting up an airport is a great way to start my day

Exactly. People who have a mental illness that leads to this kind of incident don't just decide to go out and do it one day any more than the guy who decided to shoot up the pizza place in DC because he believed fake news it was a pedophile hideout.

These things build up over time. It is rare that someone just ups and decides to go on a killing spree, mental illness or not.

Not only that and I'm not trying to be a horrible person but the news only goes off what intel they receive for all we know the government lied to us. I don't trust media sources after knowing how the government can spin any situation.

I have a family member that works in the FBI and he has said sometimes the government lies to protect us and this to me sounds like the same type situation.

Three of those questions are completely irrelevant. The root cause is mental health, well adjusted and content people don't do this, and it's not because people are "evil". An almost negligible amount of people have a neurological chemistry so extreme that they can't help but be excessively violent, those are your Ramirez's and your Dahmers. In cases like this guy's it's almost guaranteed to be an undiagnosed mood or psychotic disorder that went untreated.
