I far prefer the premise of the TV show to the Tom Cruise movies. It was all about the con. A number of films have come closer to the spirit of the TV series such as The Sting or Sneakers.

Did you ever catch the TV show Leverage?

Yeah, I did. That was similar to Mission Impossible, which is why I watched it. I still preferred Mission Impossible though.

I thought the premise of American Hustle was going to be like Mission Impossible, but it was a boring ass film.

Personally I know I will get hell for this but if a new tv show happened Am I the only one who thinks Mark Harmon would make a good Jim Phelps?

He might be okay, but I'm so bored of seeing him in NCIS that he would feel very tired casting.

Turning Jim Phelps into a traitor so that the Ethan Hunt character could be the leader is the moment at which Tom Cruise's narcissism reached critical mass.

That's also the moment that some of the original cast watching the movie walked out of the theatres.

I felt it jumped the shark at that point. If they had just either made Tom Cruise be Jim Phelps, or not had the character at all, then it would be more acceptable.

We need a reboot of Mission Impossible where Ethan Hunt turns out to be the traitor. :o
