7.06 - Lara - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I thought it was a pretty good epsiode over all. Couldnt got rid of the Isis scenes and gave us more flashback scenes. And probably given Lara/Kara/Zor-El more "kryptonian" clothes. But other then that I liked it.

I feel bad for Karas mom though, it seems like noone cares about Allura. Hope we get to hear something about her.

I KNOW!!!

Isn't that adorable??

:D

So cute...

I don't know why I think that's cute, but it is... Maybe it's the simplicity of it.

Instead of going into some long and drawn out series of excercises, he says "just pretend you have stomach ache"...

Very to the point and yet very effective.

Well I've lurked long enough on this site, I thought Lara was a pretty good ep I think the nerd scenes were too long but I loved the opening shot of Kandor
and I thought Clark looked especially sexy *yummy*

Welcome Delurker. :yay:

I love your username btw, Chrisluvstommy.

And I agree about the nerd scene, they could have cut that down by half easily, oh and definitely agree with you about your Clark comment.

Yes, Tom is the Light, Tom is the Way.

Hey, I should ask open questions in my reviews more often!

I got a reply from the Smallvill Magazine's editor about what Tom imagines when he's being poisoned by Kryptonite!

:D

Awesome, I'd always wondered.

Totally cool! When I read your question I KNEW you'd get a response from someone. I was hoping it would be Tom too. :O It's great that the editor of SV mag went out of his way to answer for you though. Very cool. You should invite him to visit us here so he can see that there are *other* SV boards that exist. ;)

Welcome, Clt! I love your name. Simple and straight to the point.

Agreed!

He does the pain beautifully.

Call me crazy but I liked this episode. I was trying to compare it to Cure and after some thought, I realized Cure was more of an uneven episode. I really liked it because it was darker, Tom's always good performance and because of the final Lex-Knox scene and the Clark-Knox confrontation where Dean was great.
I Liked Lara alot more overall. I thought the guy they cast as Zor-El was spot on, I thought the beginning was great, I know some people didn't like Kara having another flying sequence and they would rather have Tom in there, but I liked it especially because it's simbolic of how responsible and wise Clark has become as he would never be caught doing something so irresponsible like that.
I didn't mind Lana spying on Lex, not as much as she helding Lionel captive.
As for Lionel itself, I'm not sure he went back on his evil ways, I think what he did to that woman was just Luthor survival instinct.
But one of the traits of Lionel throughout the show was to keep us guessing about his intentions. I still think he's on Clark's side and I think it needs to be this way so that Lex can have the spotlight and to plant the seeds of Lex murdering Lionel in the end thus completing his turn to the dark side.
But with Lex's apparent redemption they have to have someone be deemed as evil, so that's why I think they're once again turning to Lionel having questionable behaviour.
I think Helen Slater did a good job while she did some overacting at times and I hope she will get better in blue.
I can't say good enough things about Tom, he was great in did episode and more and more becoming Superman.
Loved the ending with Clark revealed to have the cristal. Let's see what this week will bring us.

Crazy!!! LOLOL just joking...

Like you, i really enjoyed the episode although there some jumps inn logic in certain moments in the episode. However it gave us a lot more info abou Krypton which was something everyone and I mean everyone was waiting for.

Although Clark didn't show up as much as some people wanted ( I would like that too) but the fact is , it was all Clark related. Clark knowing about his mother, showing how tender she was, how concerned she was about her son's fate. Really good moments.

some people talked about Memoria but I think it's totally diferent: Memoria was a lot darker than Lara since in Memoria we got to know Lex's past and how it affected him when in Lara, it was a lot lighter.,

In fact when I think about it, both episodes are a constrast of each other: Lex, Memoria, dark, death and Clark, Lara, lighter, rescue, life. Most likely, not intended to put this idea nevertheless, it worked, at least for me.
good episode, 4 out of 5.

I'm about two bad episodes away from dropping SV.

As if Clone Lana wasn't bad enough, we got Clone Lara. Oh, and did we mention that Clark is sneaking around behind Kara's back? Clark has been so UN-Supermanly these past two weeks that it sickens me.

I hate Lana's story. I'm starting to hate Clark's. And the love triangle was stupid...though that didn't bother me nearly as much as the other two things.

If I don't see significant improvement, I'm out. Because this is NOT Superman.

"You act like a hero, but you only ever think about yourself."
-Kara

It's so true in the SV-verse, and it shouldn't be. SV has me pissed off.

So, in your world, Clark should never learn from his mistakes? He should continue to blindly trust people despite being **** on left and right due to it? He should not take caution towards other kryptonians despite the very obvious fact that the rest of the kryptonians he has met, aside from Jor-El, has turned out to be evil-viscious bastards? Remember when Brianiac showed up, he trusted him right away and nearly had the world destroyed as a result of it.

Your Clark would never develop as a character, because characters take their experiences and learn from them. Clark's experience shows him not to completely trust every alien being from another planet, because nearly everyone has tried to kill him or humans. Plus, on top of that, he got a warning from someone who's proven to be a trustworthy friend in the past. I see no other logical option for Clark but to be cautious.
