Hey guys-- just thought you might get a kick out of this. I recently finished a short film about the 1960's Superhero Labor Union in Chicago, which was mentored by Tom Mankiewicz (Superman, Diamonds are Forever), and features artwork/character designs by Eric Wight (Justice League of America, The Escapist, My Dead Girlfriend).

With the 1946 formation of "The League of Heroes" in Chicago, the country is introduced to the first ever Superhero Labor Union. Founded by The Grey Raven, his kid sidekick Sparrow, and the amazing Blue Blaze, The League of Heroes was a beacon of hope against evil and tyranny in Chicago. Now twenty years later, as The League is about to expand nationally, an old adversary makes a murderous comeback. Drawn by the rampage, the former sidekick Sparrow returns to the city--and The League--for the first time in years.

The movie can be viewed (in HD) at www.theleaguefilm.com

Check it out. If you like darker superhero stuff, I don't see anyway you won't dig this...

I just watched the film. Did you direct it? The film was incredible my friend. Never have I seen a short film that looks so professional, and most of all looks like something from the heart of the storyteller. During the film, I kept thinking how amazed I was at your passion for the story and the characters. All three great.

You and your partner wrote a solid script. And the story was great. And I have to say, the film noir approach was perfect for this. The cinematography was breathtaking, every shot seemed like candy for the eye. It reminded me of the film Zodiac in that sense.

I'm an aspiring filmmaker. You my friend, are one of the reasons why I want to make films. It's the passion, the dedication, to the story and characters, from the looks of it in your film. That was just beautiful.

What the hell are you doing here? You should be getting off your rear and pitching movie ideas to the the studios right and left! :wow: :word:

Thanks guys-- I'm really glad you dig it. Doctor Jones-- you're in it for the right reasons. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Ben-- that was yesterday. Today I'm resting ;)

Thank you. What you did was just incredible. I read that your writer is developing it into a feature. Man, that could be great.

I just loved the story. It was so original yet seemd familiar. In a good way. It just brings you back to the noir and old school superhero days. But you take it another step.

Thanks, man. What kinds of films are you into?

Suspense detective, thriller, sci-fi, Comic book films (the good ones)

Mostly detective suspense. Those are the kind of films I want to direct. Se7en is one of my favorite catch the killer films. I love Fincher and his style of directing. Zodiac is wonderful also. I couldn't help but notice in your film it reminded me of Zodiac. The music was similar also and the cinematography. I loved it though. I don't know if it was intentional or not or if it was a homage.

I love this ! This is definately something new and could bring something new to the superhero genre. Hollywood needs to look at this! Thanks for posting this.

You sir, have become my new inspiration. Thanks for the film.

Very nice... Very nice indeed. Clearly, you're a talent to watch.

Thanks guys. Pass the link on to everyone you know! ;)

And here's a working link to the interview:

League Interview

Excellent interview. I hope this can be made into a comic, tv show,or movie. Like I said, this brings something fresh and new into the superhero genre and exploring these avenues are awesome. I have watched that film 3 times already and love it!
Good luck on these possible projects! (fingers crossed)

Wow....:shock

I just watched the film and I am completley, utterly impressed. Absolutely amazing amazing job. Everything from the story to the effects to the writing to the acting to the set design to the music was beyond anything I was expecting. You completely blew me away with this one. One of the best amateur productions I've ever seen. Outstanding outstanding outstanding outstanding. Are you planning to put this on DVD anytime soon?

Thank you so much-- that means a lot. I do have the movie on DVD and Bluray, but I'm not really in any position to sell copies yet. Possibly soon though!
