That's the Transformers movie that I want to see. :woot:

Plus no Michael Bay.

A Transformers movie without humans would make 30 million dollars in the box office. So it's not going to be made.

A Transformers movie without humans would sort of defeat the purpose of them turning into cars and trucks and stuff and sort of invalidates the idea of them as "Robots In Disguise" - I mean, even the first movie, it took one flyby of an F-22 for Ironhide to peg it as Starscream, so it's not like THEY can't tell when another vehicle might be another Transformer (or even a Decepticon, if Bumblebee's behavior when Alice was riding in him is any indicator), so if there's no humans involved there really wouldn't be any point in them adopting alt-modes.

Yep . Plus god know how much it would cost to do a non human Transformers film on Cybertron . If Green Lantern cost 200 million to make , Transformers would be at least double

Well, I think they could still put more focus on the robots without such a huge risk to the budget - just use the holographic pilots/drivers a lot more and have them actually interact with their "passengers": that way the Autobots can still be prominent in a scene without the expense of CGI and on-set FX --- plus you don't need celebrities to play the drivers, just actors with good voices that can carry an on-screen presence well enough to get the job done.

Granted, the Decepticons would probably have enough contempt for humans that if they were even to allow "passengers" (i.e. hostages) they wouldn't bother using the holograms on them...but then just having them communicate through their radios or whatever as disembodied voices threatening them to shut up would probably be more fitting for them anyway.

I wouldn't get rid of the human presence in the film, but a 'serious' Transformers film about the aeons old war between these massive machines, without Bay's little in-jokes like robotic urine? If they could take a little of the emotion and loyalty you saw in Band of Brothers and apply that to the Autobots and how they follow Optimus, I would pay double to see that.

Unless it's a CGI cartoon by Pixar/DreamWorks, it's NOT going to happen. People go see films for the human connection. Things they can identify with. Say what you want about Bay's Transformers but they opened up the Transformers universe to the general public. As said before, if it had just been robots the film would've made 30 M total with only the Transformers nerds coming to see it.

I don't think a Beast Wars film would do well at all. I'm fairly certain the general public would be confused by the whole, Prime is a monkey now, thing.

I think this quote from producer Don Murphy sums up best why humans are essential to Transformers:

"
While many fans have shared desires for a movie with less humans and more Cybertronians on screen, that’s also not a realistic expectation. Like it or not, the mass audiences need a human connection to the film and as cool as it would be to see a movie based entirely on Cybertron, it will continue to be grounded here on Earth. The budget couldn’t support the alternative and they need real people to do the press."

This is called Transformers & not Humans. People go to these for the robots. People do not see these movies for the human characters

Don Murphy has no credibility if you've ever actually read some of his posts on his forums.

The Human Connection is the last thing people see these movies for. Don Murphy is a moron. Credibility or no credibility. He is a moron

No, he's right. If there's no identification, there is no wide audience. Only the geeks who already love the product will go. Like it or not, If you're reaching a larger global audience, you need people the audience can identify with and discover the Transformers with.

Nothing Murphy says can be taken seriously due to the filth he has posted on his forums.

He's right.

You can't set a film in the real world, and not have humans. There are just too many of us.

The budget to do a photo-real, CGI only film would be astronomical. I'd estimate it somewhere around $750 million or higher.

Humans are an important part of the Transformers saga, they always have been and they do ground the story and make it appeal to the general audience. What we need is a film done by people who know how to balance this by giving the Transformers character depth as well as the humans and have them work together rather than take away form each other.

The audience has to care about both the humans and the Autobots and they both need character depth.

i honestly feel the CGI wont be AS MUCH if the take the TFs and make them look more like robots than space junk aliens.

These robots have no personality, their comic book and animate forms did.

********.

Legend of the Guardians had NO humans. SO many movies that do well with audiences that have animals as lead roles that have HUMAN CHARACTERISTICS.

it can be done, and done well.

Its okay to dial back the humans involved, not too many people are saying remove them completely...but then again, hey, i say put 3 or 4 in for scale and call it a day.

Legends of the Guardians tanked. Now, before you play the Pixar card, remember, those are cartoons. Sure, the studios could make a feature length CGI cartoon with few to no humans, but that wouldn't make the money there films did. A cartoon film would appeal to some of the kids, and to the fanboys, but even then, it's not enough.

Like it or not, Michael Bay has made Transformers a household name. They are bigger now then they ever have been. A big part of that success is due to the film's ability to bring the Transformers to life in our world. An animated film won't do that, and it just wouldn't put the general audience in the theater.

Agree, only the hardcore TF fans are always moaning about these movies and not all of those either. The TF movies were very successful anyway, they werent great, but they were entertaining, exactly what people expected of them, that's why they made a lot at the box office.

Well, IF they made a Beast Wars Movie, I don't think it would be that difficult to know what's going on. It would even make an awesome reveal at the end a la Planet of the Apes, when we find out that they crash landed on Earth of the future.

Try this, find someone who's only exposure to Transformers is these films. Now, pitch Beast Wars to that person.

I think that besides the impossible costs of such a film, it would be boring if there were no humans. Sam was basically the Wayne/Kent/Parker to the Autobots' Batman/Superman/Spiderman. He provided the necessary break from the action, the comic relief, the normal life. Granted the movies werent balanced well between humans and robots with the former taking 80% of the screentime, but i wouldnt be able to watch a movie with just robots.

We need humans, that's a given, and there are many humans that I do like, and I do like the time the humans and the Transformers converse with eachother. Plus, it really gives us scale and scope to the Transformers.

And I would never pay to see a Beast Wars. I watched like 30 seconds of it on youtube, and couldn't click that crap off quick enough. Totally against Optimus Prime being an ape!
