I don't know if there's already a thread about this, I haven't found one. Or maybe this is the wrong place. If one of the two is yes: feel free to move it or merge it with another thread.

Let me say beforehand; I know the value and need of advertisements. And as long as they're not shoved into my face it's all fine.

That brings me to the following point: Since a couple of days I've been getting this very annoying ad, which is shoved into my face. It's taking up half of my screen and I need to click on it before it disappears. I don't know if I'm the only one who has a problem with that.

I enjoy coming to this forum, but this just takes away quite a bit of enjoyment. Ads on the sideline, fine. But this is very disappointing. Can anyone please do something about it?

Agreed...

The ads before were fine...these new ones take up the screen..sometimes forcing you to click on them, but then a new page pops up taking you to the ad website.

That’s what I’m about to say; people do see they ads fine but keeps on popping over and over that is the issue. My work is computer related I more often than not I usually browsed the web and pop ups appearing is truly a pain in the head.

I've been having an issue with this and usually I can't click away from it.

Oh, and I just found out something else today, which I haven't seen before on the forum... until today. I clicked on a link (to a thread) and I got a separate ad page, a page between pages and I had to click on it again to view the thread. This wasn't even a page filling ad on top of the threads page, an entirely new page.

Really... I want to keep enjoying this forum, I really do!

No.

I am not installing all kinds of programs for blocking advertisements. I have done that in the past, and I even had my computer block all pop-ups before. Which does not work all time. It clogs up my computer and there is already so much you need to have.

I am just hoping that the administrators of this forum will listen to the complaints and suggestions of users and help them to keep this place enjoyable to visit and communicate.

AdBlock Plus is just a simple Firefox Add-On. It doesn't "clog up" your computer in the slightest, and has proven to be be considerably effective.

Well, it's also available for Chrome. If you're using IE, then I don't know what to tell you.

what was the link and where did you click on it at.

it really helps when people take screen caps of things like this so that we can get them to the powers that be

I forgot to take a screen cap of that one. It seems the inbetween ad page just shows up randomly, because I didn't get it yesterday. If I get it again, I'll make sure to put up a screen cap.

So, now we have 3 things that didn't appear until a few days ago...

1. The ad that appears on top of the forum (as I've shown in the first post)
2. The ad that appears between the forum pages when you click on a forum link.
3. (and I forgot to mention earlier) An ad that opens in a new window when you click on a forum link.

Ok, a screenshot of aformentioned no. 2. The ad that appears between the forum pages when you click on a forum link.

When I get this I can click on SKIP THIS AD or if I wait approximately 10 seconds, then it will forward to the forum again.

I have to bring up how intrusive these ads can get. This was just ridiculous. Here's an ad for Edge shaving cream with video covered by one of those double ads with video (for Dexter in this instance) that slide across the bottom of the screen and then open up, requiring a double click to get rid of them, which often opens up the ad anyway. This is of course after the Edge ad pushes the content of the page down after it loads.

The ads are getting way out of hand. I wish both parties would be more mindful of the nonsense. I generally boycott any product that gives into this type of ******** model on principal. If I hadn't been watching Dexter already, which really requires no advertisement to begin with, I'd have boycotted it like I did Showtime's other show...Strike Zone?

So I guess you won't be getting the Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol DVD then. :argh:

I think the people who complain about the ads on forum should start their own forum that's open to the public (free of charge) and then you will understand the necessity of ads. Yes they are annoying, yes they can ben intrusive, but they will never harm your system. If you (not anyone in particular) are not willing to be proactive and install the necessary add-ons to IE or another browser with the necessary add-ons, then the complaining is invalid. Google Chrome, for example, is a more stable and user-friendly web browser than IE will ever be. Ad Block Plus is a FANTASTIC add-on that will stop the pop ups from happening. Downloading another web browser or an add-on is not going to slow down your system in anyway. Oh and all of this is FREE! Sometimes you have got to help yourself, and not rely on others to fix something that's not broke to begin with. There are alternatives out there people. Use them! That's what they are there for.

At home, I have no problems. But, that's because I'm using Firefox with Ad Block. However, on my phone, the mobile version is now putting ads on the front page that jam my browser. That honestly keeps me from even visiting the front page unless I'm at home.

Agreed. I had the same, annoying problem/s with pop up ads, but once I downloaded AD Block Plus, they all went away. People suffer because they want to.
