‘Time After Time’ Kevin Williamson Time-Travel Drama About HG Wells Set At ABC
Using the 1979 novel and movie as a starting point, Time After Time will chronicle the epic adventures of young H.G. Wells and his Time Machine.

In the book and and in the feature starring Malcolm McDowell, David Warner and Mary Steenburgen, H. G. Wells — the bestselling author of The Time Machine and War Of The Worlds — has invented a time machine. He shows the contraption to his friends, oblivious to the fact that one of them, surgeon Leslie John Stephenson, is in fact the infamous Jack the Ripper. When Scotland Yard detectives get on Stevenson’s trail, the murderer uses the time machine to flee to the future, getting transported to 1979 San Francisco. He is quickly followed by Wells who is trying to bring him to justice. (Watch a trailer for the movie below)

Freddie Stroma To Star As H.G. Wells

Josh Bowman To Play Jack the Ripper

Never seen the original, but I'd be tickled pink by a McDowell presence.

I mean, in all honesty, I'd show up for this alone, but the story actually does sound intriguing. :o

Interesting premise. I wonder if the original is available somewhere.

The original film with Malcolm McDowell as Wells and David Warner as Jack the Ripper, is pretty good, though very un-pc and dated. Cindy Lauper actually wrote her classic song Time after Time based off of that film's title.

The show reminds me of the ABC's short lived Forever which also had a bit of the same Victorian meets 21st century vibe.

Got to love the look on his face about his great granddaughter.

Looks like another go at the idea for Forever

Interesting. I remember loving the movie as a kid. Also, it's one of the few times Malcolm McDowell didn't play a villain or a weirdo lol.

Premieres tonight.

Will be watching it!

If ABC doesn't name that programming block Once Upon a Time After Time, what are they even doing?

Because of AmericanCrime? But if they rename that show to Crime Time. They could call it the Sunday Primetime Time Block or something.

Of course HG Wells and Jack the Ripper are both dashingly handsome.

awww, HG crying because Trump is president? :hehe:

Sleep tight *holds gun* Sure. *runs away*

I liked it. I remember the movie when I was a kid and there were nice moments of nostalgia. I'm definitely interested and will check again next week. I like that they are not going to be 'locked' into the present day. Should make things exciting.

Not bad, the actors are fine and the time machine looks cool and they kept the lounge chair from the movie.

It was alright just not great.

Based from the ratings, it won't last long. But the premise of the show is interestingfor me to watch the next episodes.

:argh:

If only that series had succeeded. :(

This sounds a bit like Timeless (another series which may only last one season) with someone chasing another person in a time machine throughout history.

Didn't know it had started. Might have to check it out now. Hope Josh Bowman isn't just playing his character from Revenge again.

I doubt it's going to last long but it was a decent start, I really liked the actress playing Jane.

Is Bowman boring to watch? Is it just a retread of his Revenge character?

And was it a two-part pilot?
