All right. First of all hello to all. I've lurked around these forums for years. So the other day I'm at Borders and I casually pick Absolute Dark Knight. Now I'm not gonna lie to ya'. I would not really pay that mucho for a few comic book stories. But after I opened it, darn it was bloody awesome. However I did not buy it. Too pricy. Maybe another time when I'm good on cash. Anyways the thing that most caught my was the original plot outline for the Dark Knight Returns. It really made a huge impression on me. I was wondering if anyboy could post it here. Pics or text. I tried getting some pics of it, but they came out bad. If anybody could help, I'd really appreciate it. Take care.

Javier.

I have the DKR hardcover, does the Absolute include any different extra's?

Yes, yes it does. It has a LOT of batman character sketches by Miller himself, panel sketches and stuff. Cover images, and of course the wonderful original plot outlined for The Dark Knight Returns which actually ended up being Year One. Its a great buy if you got the money and are willing to spend it.

Hmm, could you post what you remember of it in the mean time? Pretty please?

My hardcover has the following extra's:
-introduction by FM
-1 pin up (I had not seen before)
-The Covers in it's original format
-The script with 6 sketches.

I guess the really packed the Absolute edition.

This is part of the text:

Dark Knight
Episode 1: Who I am, how I came to be

A violent thunderstorm batters stately Wayne Manor. Lightning flashes

A second lightning flash reveals that Bruce is speaking to a marble bust of his father. Bruce speaks fondly of his early childhood. He remembers how many times his father told him that his impetuous nature would one day be the death of young Bruce.

…Bruce Wayne, age six, gleefully explores the grounds of Wayne Manor. Faithful family retainer Alfred Pennyworth tries to keep up with the athletic child, but Bruce tears off after a rabbit, leaving Alfred behind. The rabbit ducks into a hole, and Bruce recklessly follows. Almost immediately, the earth gives way under Bruce, and he tumbles heading into the darkness.

His scraped knees and the echo of his fall tell Bruce that he is in a large cave. Then he hears screeching, and the flapping of thousands of wings. Bats come at him, the retreats as he swings his arms wildly. He looks above, his vision adjusting to the darkness and sees the immensely huge bat, hugging the floor, willing to retreat as his brothers did.

Bruce continues to talk to his father. He’s confused of the things he finds himself thinking about tonight. He wants his father to help him find a way to go on…he has lost, failed at the only thing that matters to him, so why is he thinking of Zorro, of all things?

I've never actually seen one of the Absolutes up close. How big was it, and did it really look better than the trade paperbacks?

As i said, if you don't actually have the trade paperbacks, then it would be a hell of a buy.
